The Landings Club Golf Course Equipment Operator in Skidaway Island, Georgia

Job Summary

  • Responsible for utilizing a variety of mowers, hand-powered equipment and large equipment to perform maintenance activities to maintain the appearance of up to 6 golf courses.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operates mowers and string trimmers in maintaining greens, aprons, tees, and fairways on all golf courses.

  • Manages the seeds for tees, greens and fairways.

  • Edges and rakes sand bunkers, sands divots and removes debris from flower beds.

  • Performs preventative maintenance on all equipment including ball washers and mowers, such as checking their fluid levels and reports any problems to the supervisor.

  • Transfers hole locations and moves tee markers, as necessary.

  • Assists with tree and shrub maintenance including planting, transplanting, pruning, removing, and checking for diseases.

  • Assists in the construction of new greens, tees and fairways; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod.

  • Operates mechanical loaders to move soil, debris, and other materials.

  • Represents the club with the utmost of professionalism.

  • Cleans maintenance area and equipment to include checking the equipment fluid levels daily.

  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility and inspects machinery after each use.

  • Follows safety guidelines and remains knowledgeable of the machine operating procedures.

  • Works variety of shifts, as needed to include nights, weekends and/or holidays.

  • Complies with departmental and Club policies and procedures.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • 1 or more years of previous landscaping or grounds maintenance experience on a golf course.

  • A valid driver's license to operate Club vehicles is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to understand and follow verbal/written instructions.

  • Ability to manage a diverse workload and prioritize in a fast paced environment.

  • Ability to use tact and understanding when dealing with a variety of customer service problems, including stressful and highly emotional situations.

  • Ability to multitask and delegate issues timely and efficiently.

  • Willingness to provide exceptional service to members and guests.

Physical Demands

  • Stands, kneels, bends, climbs, balances, pushes and walks for 95% of work day.

  • Lifts between 10 – 50 pounds during work day.

  • Stoops, crawls, twists, reaches and manipulates equipment and power tools to complete work assignments.

  • May be exposed to fumes, loud noise levels and or airborne particles.

  • Works outdoors in inclement weather 90% of the work day.
