Job Summary
Under general supervision, the Electrical Estimator is responsible for providing accurate and thorough estimates of the costs required to perform electrical work as defined in a set of plans and specifications, a design-build proposal, or an RFQ.
Essential Job Functions
Obtain and organize project plans, perform accurate quantity take-offs, and input information into estimating software to generate overall project cost proposals.
Prepare detailed project scope proposals for owners, customers, and potential contractors.
Record current and previous bid results and track upcoming projects and bid board interests.
Obtain and review price quotes from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors, coordinating closely with purchasing to forecast commodities based on project schedules.
Collaborate with field leaders and project managers to prepare breakouts of job costs, provide accurate bills of materials, and create detailed breakouts for project turnover meetings.
Requirements
High School diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering or equivalent electrical experience preferred but not required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
General knowledge of electrical construction industry principles/practices, electrical codes, and commercial, industrial, and residential electrical systems.
General knowledge of hard bid, negotiated, GMP, conceptual budgeting, and budget processes helpful.
Proficiency in computer skills, with general knowledge of electrical estimating software preferred.
Superior communication skills to interact effectively with co-workers, general and sub-contractors, vendors, and customers.
Strong math skills and the ability to read, write, and speak English.
Must maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
