The Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Asia Pacific Regional Finance Team provides strategic finance support to the Asia Pacific Leadership Team (APLT) and Asia Pacific Strategy & Operations (APSO), ensuring that value creation is at the core of decision-making. The Therapeutic Area (TA) Finance team focuses on delivering value-adding financial insights to cross-functional brand strategy teams and Therapeutic Area Leaders, partnering closely with the APSO team, Regional FP&A, and OpCo BUF Finance teams. Key responsibilities include sales performance analysis, strategic resource allocation, ROI/NPV analysis, long-term sales planning, and efficient operational budget management.
Position Overview
The Regional TA Finance Director is the leader responsible for overseeing the financial performance, forecasts, investment decisions, and profitability of all TAs across the Asia Pacific region. This individual serves as a strategic finance and business partner for the APSO TA leads and APSO Business Intelligence & Analytics (BI&A) team. The role reports directly to the CFO & Vice President of Finance for Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Asia Pacific.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Leadership
Develop a comprehensive understanding of brand/product strategy, pipeline, competitive landscape, market dynamics, and market shares.
Maintain awareness of changes in the industry and financial environment.
Provide strategic business partnership to support growth for TAs in the Asia Pacific region, assisting APSO TA Leads with commercial strategy and offering advisory support for product launches (including resourcing, funding, and sales forecasting).
Lead the development and delivery of the TA Business Plan and TA Long Range Financial Plan (LRFP).
Offer ad hoc financial support for Business Development opportunities.
Collaborate with the regional FP&A team to enhance simplification and standardization while considering the finance needs of the business units in close connection with local Operating Companies (OpCos).
Act as an active project sponsor to achieve Business/Finance Goals & Objectives (G&O) such as Brand Archetyping and finance process improvements.
Finance Leadership
Direct the brand/product budget prioritization process.
Oversee Net Trade Sales planning, performance analysis, and the identification of risks and opportunities during Integrated Business Planning (IBP) and business planning cycles.
Lead finance efforts for the TA LRFP, providing predictive analytics and actionable insights based on market data.
Analyze TA resource allocation through benchmarking using internal financial data (e.g., Product Contribution Statements) and/or external data sources to ensure optimal cross-brand and cross-functional resource allocation.
Lead commercial finance activities for collaborations with the alliance management team, global finance team, and external partners.
Contribute inputs for TAs for the Quarterly Investors Relations report.
Work with local OpCo controllers to gather regional and local market insights.
Conduct business case/value case analyses.
Manage core regional finance tasks related to financial closings and budget cycles, delivering qualitative insights through thorough analyses and achieving efficiency gains.
People Leadership
Lead and mentor the Asia Pacific Finance team (3 FTEs) to foster a high-performing, positive, and engaging working environment.
Play a key role in building the regional business unit finance organization in alignment with Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine Asia Pacific finance vision and strategy.
Actively collaborate across sectors and functions with the Regional Operations (RO) FP&A finance team.
Financial Responsibility and Accountability
- Impact Net Trade Sales (NTS) of approximately USD $5B. Serve as a key business partner for VP-level APSO senior leaders.
Qualifications
Experience/Other Requirements:
University degree in Finance/Economics with a minimum of 8+ years of relevant finance experience.
Experience in an international healthcare business environment preferred.
Previous operating company experience is an asset.
Fluency in English is required.
Availability for travel up to 10% of the time.
Preferred Location: Flexible; position can be executed virtually.
