R&D Mechanical Engineer

Purpose of the position

We're making every move count

Be the project manager and mechanical lead of new initiatives. Applied research and development activities to design/ improve new and current Bromma products, components, equipment, systems, and processes.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Key accountabilities:

  • Develop/ improve new and current Bromma products, know-how, components, equipment, systems, and processes.

  • Undertakes research work, generates new ideas/ concepts for new initiatives.

  • Plan, design, and conduct research and development projects according to established international standards, principles, and theories.

  • Estimate the costs, resources and time required for a project.

  • Document research and development progress and activities.

  • Prepare calculations, design drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation so that prototype designs can be produced and assembled.

  • Calculate and analyze test results and discuss test results with the research / development team.

  • Develop and maintain technical expertise on advances and innovations in research and science and development activities, i.e. by attending education workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional society.

What you’ll need to succeed

Education

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of working experience in mechanical design and project management

  • Experience in design of heavy machinery and/or crane equipment highly desirable

  • Hands on with site experience preferred

Skills

  • 3D CAD modeling preferably in Inventor and knowledge of PDM systems

  • Knowledge of GD/T and industrial standards

  • Familiar with steel design, welding and DFMA

  • Familiar with hydraulics and transmission design

  • Project management skill

  • Write professional analytic and technical reports

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
