What is the Job all about?
The APAC Transportation Manager has direct accountability for APAC transportation management (inbound flows, Intercompany flows between plants and outbound to our customers) for South East Asia Oceania (SEAO) and South Asia (SA). Your focus is to ensure the assigned regional transportation team with clear accountability on cost performance, operational performance, C02 reduction and on contributing to the long-term strategic transportation roadmap to support 2025 Logistics strategy Roadmap. Critical responsibilities related to selection and supervising the performance of transportation partners, managing, and developing the shipping teams, managing the cost budget, developing continuous productivity and stakeholder management with the different Performance Units and functions within Grundfos. The teams are placed in different countries spread across Southeast Asia, Oceania and South Asia.
Your main responsibilities:
The APAC Transportation Manager has the responsibility to supervise the transportation partners in the region and optimize transportation flows across the designated region. Find new opportunities to develop spend reduction initiatives (3% (or as agreed) Year on Year productivity) either finding alternatives lanes or modes, more cost effective or changing existing provider with new one, ensuring the partners Continues improvement / productivity programs, improve quality, reduce complaints, cost and co2 emissions.Prepare managerial reviews for the Global and PU Leadership teams to make appropriate business decision. You are responsible to track and publish monthly performance reports for cost, service, quality, and sustainability indexes. You are also responsible to ensure custom and excise compliance for import and export of goods, as well as invoicing freight to fulfil local and regional regulations. – [40%]
The APAC Transportation Manager has the responsibility to manage and develop the regional transportation and shipping teams to ensure daily smooth operations but also to ensure that long term initiatives are supported and leaded by your function. You will have 5 – 15 direct reports in the shipping teams. You will be responsible to define the future design of the organization, and this may include to onboard external logistics partners, 4PL’s as well as deploy shared service center organization in low-cost countries. You are responsible to deploy globally Grundfos group standards and to regularly update them. You are the leader of the execution of the material flow process. – [30%]
The APAC Transportation Manager needs to have an extremely close collaboration with Performance Unit colleagues, Group functions, and directly with Customers. Your organization and your direct involvement are the ultimate connection with our end customers given the direct responsibility of last-mile distribution. This means understanding the different Customer needs and translating them into execution with the freight forwarders. Implement existing services or design new services to meet Customer requirements. You will be a key member in the deployment of the order-to-cash initiative over a defined supply chain strategy (Customer interfaces, differentiated services for different value chains. – [30%]
Your background:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field (Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business or preferred); MBA or Graduate-level Supply Chain degree highly advantageous
5-7+ years of logistics sourcing/procurement experience across multiple countries/regions
Deep knowledge of regional logistics supply chain in road, rail, ocean and air
Experience with Stakeholder management, create good relations to Group Logistics, local company management, local production/DC customers, Customer Service, physical flow managers & local supply chain responsibilities.
Develop external relations with freight forwarders, local custom & tax authorities, local and international trade organizations, and groups.
Proven history of delivering results (safety, quality, delivery, cost, inventory and people) in large global or Geo-based improvement activities.
High Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Project Management Skills
Fluent in English (written and spoken), able to communicate to all layers of the organization, incl. headquarters.
A deep understanding of Lean and six sigma principles
