AeroVironment Sr. Director, Global IT Operations in Simi Valley, California
The Sr. Director, Global IT Operations will oversee the global strategy for our IT operations (infrastructure, cyber and service desk, NOC), and the effective & efficient delivery of scalable, secure and 24x7 available global technology solutions to support business processes across the enterprise. This individual will have solid leadership and technical infrastructure and operational management experience, excellent vendor management skills, plus a superior, service-oriented approach to managing system technologies, specifically cloud based. The main responsibilities for this role will be to ensure quality, efficiency, and agility goals are achieved in the delivery and management of enterprise infrastructure. As a member of the IT leadership team, the role contributes to the development and execution of the enterprise-wide IT strategy and ensures its alignment with the enterprise's business strategy and the delivery of capabilities required to achieve business success. The expectation for this role is to come in as both a business leader and a technologist with a vision for how IT can enable productivity and efficiency for the enterprise.
Provide technology vision and leadership to achieve key business objectives
Evaluate and plan strategic technology roadmap as it relates to system applications and cloud-based distributed systems by prioritizing technology initiatives and coordinating the evaluation, development, deployment, and management of current and future application technologies with all stakeholders.
Manages the administration of all computer security systems and their corresponding or associated software, including intrusion prevention/detection systems, DLP systems, SEIM systems and related systems/technologies
Manages the internal and external audits and updates to our policies, procedures yearly at a minimum to ensure continuous standardization and policy improvements as technology evolves.
Proactively stays ahead of threats and vulnerabilities by reviewing and assessing our infrastructure and security architecture, working with our Enterprise architecture team to assure scale and safety.
Enhance and oversee global system development, testing & support, monitoring, including data integration across a diverse and decentralized computing environment.
Responsible for planning, development & delivery of business solutions for the enterprise
Establish global NOC capability and 24x7 team support and availability, externally outsourcing where needed
Working closely with Enterprise Architects, the role will maintain strong functional system knowledge and will be proficient with ITSM process workflows and maturity levels (CMMC) to scale IT Operations initiatives. Strong knowledge and experience with LANs, WANs, Internet, telecom, SaaS toolsets, security, Microsoft, Linux stack, and wireless implementations
Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.
Lead day-to-day management of the IT operations organization (including staffing, budgeting, and other relevant management functions) and is required to hold all application delivery teams accountable for optimizing the cost, risk, and value of applications throughout their life cycle.
To be successful, you'll need:
Management experience leading a team responsible for cloud and on prem infrastructure services, including network, telecom, data center, virtualization, disaster recovery, cyber security, and enterprise architecture.
Prior experience leading digital transformations and designing modern technology delivery capabilities – Cloud, Dev/Ops, continuous development/deployment, agile methodologies, analytics, artificial intelligence, and RPA/automation.
Excellent leadership abilities and management skills with a proven record of strategic planning, productivity, and process improvement, change management, and budget and resource management
Excellent relationship-building, communication skills, and negotiation skills. The ability to get things done via influence vs. authority is paramount
Able to operate at an enterprise level, using creative and innovative solutions with a relentless focus on customer experience.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
The ability to model and create an environment of accountability for outcome-based objectives.
Self-starter attitude and track record seamlessly executing quickly on complex projects with minimal guidance
Experience with Agile and LEAN in an Information Technology environment is desirable
Possess solid project management skills, can set and manage expectations extremely well, work effectively with others, and are exceedingly productive on your own while producing quality results
Minimum 15 years relevant experience and proven track record in Information Systems, operations management, cyber security standards and compliance/governance, and building operational excellence globally.
7+ years of experience developing strategic enterprise global roadmaps and implementations
10+ years of IT Operations experience in a leadership role with a proven track record of developing scalable infrastructure with global compliance
Proven experience with software development project methodologies (SDLC, Agile, PMP, Scrum) and ideally proven DevOps/CI CD experience
Proven experience in large infrastructure deployments , with deep expertise in Microsoft/Azure/AWS/Oracle cloud platforms and leading 24x7 NOC service management
Experience in Aerospace and Defense industries in a plus.
Experience developing strategic plans for enterprise secured infrastructure and user requirements in support of business operations
Experience in developing Business Continuity Plans and Disaster Recovery Plans
Strong technical experience with Firewall, Router and Switch configurations in support of enterprise security requirements
Experience in interpreting the applicability of local and federal laws/regulations as applies to secure company operations. In particular, experience with DFARS 252 and NIST 800 requirements.
Ability to communicate effectively with Executives, business stakeholders and key technology partners
Strong cloud platforms experience in order to architect global compliant based solutions
The ability to motivate, inspire, counsel, and facilitate individuals and teams to take responsibility and accountability for goals.

Ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
Excellent critical/structured analysis, strategic planning, and project execution skills
Team player with a passion for building relationships and providing exceptional service.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field with 15+ years of IT experience, including demonstrated success working as a member of a team in a senior leadership role. A Master’s degree is a plus.
Experience in high-growth, Pre-IPO, SaaS company is desirable
Ability to travel, both domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time
Ability to work in an office and/or home office environment (Constant)
Required to sit and stand for long periods; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)
