Summary

The Manager, Test Equipment Engineering at AeroVironment leads the test equipment engineering team, overseeing test equipment development and sustainment. The test equipment engineering team is responsible for designing, documenting, building, troubleshooting and verifying test equipment to all Unmanned Aircraft and Tactical Missile System products.

Duties

  • Recruit staff, establish goals and objectives for employees, support personal development, and evaluate performance of team members.

  • Develops cost and schedule estimates for the development of custom semi-automated test equipment

  • Managesteam Capitalexpenditures, while maintaining budget goals

  • Leads product design reviews to ensure product testability

  • Supports Operations in the production and testing of products.

  • Manages the evaluation of new test processes and equipment.

  • Ability to oversee and manage subcontractors

  • Ensures proper documentation of test equipment designs and approves changes to products and test equipment

  • Troubleshoots integrated electronics, software, and electro-mechanical test equipment.

  • Work on issues of diverse scope where analysis of situation or data requires evaluation of a variety of factors, including an understanding of current business trends

  • Frequently interact with subordinate supervisors, customers, and/or functional peer group managers

  • Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills & Experience)

  • Bachelor’s in relevant Engineering discipline (Electrical, Software) is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience; Advanced degree is preferred

  • A minimum of 12 years relevant experience in automated test equipment design and development

  • Minimum of at least 3 years’ experience in a management or leadership role

  • Experience with engineering support in a production environment

  • Experienced with testing microprocessor-based electronicassemblies

  • Experienced in software development. C# experience preferred

  • Experience with HALT/HASS process development preferred

  • Direct experience with LabView or equivalent tools is a plus

Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of engineering disciplines including mechanical and electrical design, material properties, and test instrumentation

  • Demonstrates knowledge of various manual and automated testing methodologies at all stages of product development

  • Demonstrates competency in generating cost and lead time estimates based on different levels of specifications at different life cycle stages of a project

  • Uses vision to think beyond the immediate situation, explore multiple potential paths and adapt decision-making style based on the situational circumstances

  • Inspires, motivates and empowers people to deliver organizational goals, while also delivering value back to employees

  • Brings organizational values to life using personality, uniqueness and the creation of a shared vision

  • Strong analytical, technical, and conceptual design skills

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in an officeand manufacturing environment

  • Required to sit and stand for long periods (Frequent)

  • Required to talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard (Frequent)

  • Able to lift up to 10 lbs. and carry objects of varying sizes and shapes (Occasional)

The salary range for this role is:

$118,107 - $167,475
