Onsite/Remote: Partial Remote Position

This position is eligible for a flexible work schedule arrangement at the present time. The arrangement may be delayed for training or other job acclimation purposes and remains subject to change.

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Verification Champion for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) located in Silvis, Illinois , you will:

  • Lead the software verification strategy for the scope of features being delivered by our global team for our state-of-the-art Crop Harvesting Advanced Agricultural System domain.

  • Collaborate with software development teams and test automation engineers to create and support the execution of the software verification test plans in the MiL/SiL (virtual), HiL (subsystem simulator), and ViL (Combines/Headers) environments.

  • Use a deep understanding of the software solution being implemented as well as understanding customer needs to ensure software meets those needs.

  • Define and support the execution of the appropriate level of regression testing required for each software release.

  • Establish and track software test metrics (requirements to test case coverage, test case data, test results, defects found, defect escapes, etc.) in conjunction with the Software Systems PVV test team.

  • Lead software development feature test planning for Advanced Agricultural System domain with the global team of Verification Champions (Silvis-IL, Urbandale-IA, Germany, India, Brazil, Mexico, and more) to establish a holistic verification plan.

  • Become the Subject Matter Expert for testing and functionality of Harvesting Equipment Automated systems.

  • Assist and guide new team members with testing practices, knowledge on tested subsystem, toolsets, and verification processes.

  • Support and drive the development of enterprise solutions for virtual test and development for Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery

What Skills You Need

  • 3+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, and/or integrating software and electrical systems within SIL, HIL, and VIL environments.

  • 3+ years working in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams.

  • 3+ years of experience with J1939 CAN protocol or CAN tools used for logging and the analysis of vehicle networks.

  • Strong analytical and communication skills to break down, solve, and convey complex features and issues to clearly create and document a path to resolution.

  • Passion and demonstrated ability to understand the details of how software is written, implemented, as well as the customers’ use our software products.

  • Willingness to perform on-machine testing at John Deere and cooperator test sites.

  • Product design and/or test experience within the Agriculture, Construction, Forestry, Off-Road Equipment, or related industries.

  • Practical knowledge of GitHub workflow, GitHub Actions, Jenkins pipelines, and virtual test environments.

What Makes You Stand Out

  • On-machine testing at John Deere or customer test sites.

  • Practical working experience with test case automation tools (e.g. ECU-Test, etc.).

  • Experience with Vehicle System Simulation at a full-machine level (Vehicle, Automation systems, Guidance, Display, Image Processing/Perception Modules, etc.).

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g. Python, Perl, etc.).

  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

  • Rally (Broadcom) functionality

  • ISTQB (International Software Testing Qualifications Board) Foundation Certification

  • Working knowledge of John Deere Gen 4 / Gen 5 vehicle displays​​


Ideally you will have a degree OR equivalent related work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Agricultural, Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, a related discipline.
