PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES\ To assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

  1. Implementby instruction and action the District philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  2. Guidethe learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals; in harmony with the goals, establishes desired student performance objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to students.
  3. Assessstudents to determine whether desired student performance objectives are being achieved.
  4. Plan, after identifying student needs, a program of study.
  5. Employinstructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
  6. Diagnosethe learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and refers to appropriate specialist where need exists.
  7. Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provides progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  8. Providean atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
  9. Maintainaccurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
  10. Counselwith colleagues, students, and/or parents on a regular basis.
  11. Assistin upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
  12. Attendand participates in general faculty and department meetings.
  13. Cooperatewith other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  14. Assistin the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional equipment.
  15. Establishes and maintains cooperative relations with others.
  16. Maintainand improveprofessional competence.
  17. Maintainactive and harmonious involvement in community affairs.
  18. Performother reasonable duties as may be directed by the Principal.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

  1. The teacher demonstrates an understanding of the curriculum, subject content, and the developmental needs of students by providing relevant learning experiences.
  2. The teacher plans using the states standards, the schools curriculum, data, and engaging and appropriate strategies and resources to meet the needs of all students.
  3. The teacher uses a variety of research-based instructional strategies relevant to the content area to engage students in active learning, to promote key skills, and to meet individual learning needs.
  4. The teacher systematically gathers, analyzes, and uses relevant data to measure student progress, guide instructional content and delivery methods, and provide timely feedback to students, parents, and stakeholders.
  5. The teacher uses resources, routines, and procedures to provide a respectful, positive, safe, student-centered environment that is conducive to learning.
  6. The teacher maintains a commitment to professional ethics, collaborates and communicates appropriately, and takes responsibility for personal professional growth that results in the enhancement of student learning.
  7. The work of the teacher results in acceptable, measurable, and appropriate student progress.
