This position has a hybrid/mobile working arrangement requiring onsite work up to 3 days per week. The Fuel Handling Engineer Manager is responsible for leading the engineering operations of the group. This highly capable, multi-discipline engineering group focuses on the plant layout and design of permanent plant machines that are used for craning (e.g., reactor building polar cranes) and fuel movement in reactor, spent fuel storage and fuel transfer systems. Design includes the integration of custom mechanical design (e.g., weldments, machined parts) with standard industrial I&C. Your Day-to-Day: Resource management of a team of approximately 35+ engineers and designers of mechanical, mechatronic, electrical and software disciplines. Team is comprised of both experienced and early career professionals. Team may or may not have supporting supervisor(s) established or added to minimize total number of direct reports. Leads all aspects of personnel development and resource management (demand/supply planning), in close cooperation with the technical leader(s) in the team. Ensures standards of quality through governance and application of ASME NQA-1 quality assurance programs, cost (including utilization of resources to meet assigned targets), safety (ensuring both personnel and Industrial safety), reliability, timeliness and performance are met. Responsible for the overall growth (hiring) of the team, maintaining critical skills, core competencies within the group. Prioritizes and leads improvement projects to enhance the quality and efficiency of engineering processes and designs. Developing the resource and technical strategy, including internal budget development and maintenance. Maintain close collaboration with Shoreview Plant manufacturing. Provides project updates to Westinghouse management and its customers. Identify and define technical issues and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution. Establish cross collaboration opportunities with personnel from other Westinghouse global engineering teams and subcontractors to effectively balance demand/supply constraints. Who You Are: As a successful candidate, you will bring the following to the team: A bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Electrical Engineering (strongly preferred) A licensed professional engineer (preference) Minimum of 8 years of practical engineering experience and/or engineering management experience. Experience working to nuclear QA program design processes (other specialized QAP with design process governance may also be acceptable) Familiarity with modeling and simulation tools (ANSYS, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc) Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills Strong teamwork and demonstrated leadership skills Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and perform tasks under pressure Ability to Influence others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures Demonstrates sound contract knowledge, uses approved commercial processes, manages work to terms, scope; tracks progress and models a questioning attitude Strong interpersonal and communication abilities are essential to be successful in our team-based environment.
