THE POSITION The Department of Transportation, Clarion County Maintenance Office is seeking a hard working Highway Foreman 2 to supervise the work of a general highway maintenance crew performing manual labor and operating heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair operations on or around assigned highways. DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will be responsible for general maintenance functions including planning for materials, traffic control, equipment availability, and personnel. Evaluating the skill level of the subordinate staff and making recommendations on required training and opportunities for overall performance improvement is also part of your responsibilities.

You will supervise the work of a general highway maintenance crew performing manual labor and operating heavy equipment to perform standard or routine maintenance and repair operations on or around assigned highways, including snow removal. This includes year-round planning, carrying out and finalizing all phases of a project or assignment.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
  • This position requires shiftwork, travel, and overtime.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

      REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of experience as a Highway Foreman 1; or
  • Two years of experience in the performance of lead work or skilled tradesman duties on a highway maintenance or construction project; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Pennsylvania Driver's License.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
