Group Summary

About the Role

Direct accountability for fixtures, equipment evaluation, hand tools, and time studies as required for the manufacture of assemblies and end products of the current or future program. Assist EHS Coordinator with ergonomics programs and assists with the plant Health and Safety initiatives.

Your Responsibilities

• Direct responsibility for overseeing the daily operations of manufacturing/industrial engineers by assisting the Engineering Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, and Plant Manager in maintaining a plantwide commitment that the highest quality product possible in manufactured. Ensure all associates have a safe environment in that all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated. Enforce safety rules, policies, and procedures consistently, and respond to and investigate all reports of accidents or injuries in a timely manner. Assume the role of ergonomics program coordinator. • Participates in APQP & PDP events and complete tasks as required.

• Responsible for leading a technical team and establishing and implementing the most cost-efficient methods for production. Plans and coordinates the activities necessary to produce specified products within safety, quality and cost standards. Analyze production and quality issues or proposed deviations from established standards and advise related departments concerning such deviations.

• Develops and updates process documentation and procedure instruction. Defines tooling and fixturing used in the manufacturing process. Coordinates with tool designers to specify or procure new tooling. Develops detailed, complete and accurate capital equipment studies and makes appropriate recommendations for capital expenditures.

• Assists in preparation of departmental budget including material, manpower, equipment and outside procurement costs, and operates within approved parameters. •

• Ensures that the principles of the Magna Employee Charter and the Corporate Constitution and Operational Principles are practiced, supported, and reinforced. Performs other duties as assigned.

Who we are looking for

B.S. in Engineering related field, preferably Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing with three plus years of engineering/manufacturing experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience is required.

Your preferred qualifications

Examines plans and specifications for new machinery and equipment to ascertain if all safety precautions have been included. • Conducts plant and area surveys to determine safe limits of exposure to materials or conditions such as temperatures, noise, dusts, fumes, vapors, gases, solvents and radiation. • Administers and insures compliance with the Quality, Environmental, and Material Management System requirements as outlined in the policy manuals. • ISO 14001 Auditor and/or Working Group Member as requested. • Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely, follows all company policies and reports all unsafe and unhealthy conditions. • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner. • Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the Magna Employee Charter and the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
