Basic Job Functions:

The EHS Coordinator will be responsible for providing support to improve and sustain the industrial health and safety of all teammates as well as all environmental activities. This position helps implement safety programs and policies and monitors OSHA compliance, assists with safety incidents, corrective actions and follow ups. The EHS Coordinator will participate in all federal, state and corporate audits helping to recommend improvements for safety and environmental practices and assists with identifying areas of hazard. List of duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementation of safety and environmental programs and policies

  • Understanding, facilitating implementation, and communicating EPA, OSHA and IDEM regulations

  • Managing internal management system and facilitates investigations, corrective actions and follow ups

  • Participating in all federal, state and corporate audits

  • Leading improvement initiatives for safe practices and hazard recognition

  • Participating in Nucor Corporate wide as regional safety and environmental teams

  • The EHS Coordinator will be required to complete the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certification.

  • Implementation and management of the ISO 14001 EMS

    Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • Able to travel periodically up to 25%

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Safety and/or Environmental Related Program

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Experience working with federal/state safety regulations and laws

  • Wastewater treatment experience

  • Steel industry experience

  • Experience with safety management systems and/or OSHA VPP

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, NFPA, ANSI and other regulatory standards

  • Experience as a Medical Professional, EMT or Industrial Hygiene

  • Proven two (2) years of EHS experience
