About the Role

  • Manage Advanced Manufacturing Engineers, Program and Launch Managers to support engineering and launch requirements to execute flawless first-time right launch of new programs.

  • Support and Manage Advanced Manufacturing Engineers responsibilities to assure successful launch of new products per Magna’s Launch System. This includes all process documentation, APQP, PFMEA, accurate inhouse manufacturing cost analysis, process capabilities, machines, equipment, tooling & gaging. Support and oversee the plant program and launch team by leading program related communication with plant operations and customers. Develop and improve program and launch activities regarding quality, timing & cost

Your Responsibilities

  • Primary point of communication interface to the customer for the respective program(s). Manage thorough completion of APQP process. Review manufacturing equipment and sourcing decisions. Develop manufacturing plans and headcount requirements with operations personnel.

  • Responsible for leading the preparation and business case review of quotations for customers. Responsible for ensuring quotes target profitable and/or strategic business opportunities, performing contract reviews when awarded, and lessons learned analyses for lost business opportunities. Cohesively aligns with Global Product Managers, Product Engineering, and Sales by providing customer feedback on products, features and processes.

  • Owns program management through complete product life cycle from concept, quoting, program award, product development, supplier selection, launch, post–production performance, & lessons learned utilizing the Global Program Management System (GPMS). Preparation and communication of program status meetings to management steering committee and escalation of critical issues with regular meetings with all functions during the preparation phases.

  • Coordinating / monitoring project documentation, timelines, technical performance, budget, production, quality deliverables, and corrective action initiatives, conducting risk analyses, and implementing required counter actions. Full program management ownership of program-related functional activities: quoting, purchasing, product engineering, quality, manufacturing / launch management, & finance/budget.

  • Manage Series Production Phase including claims management, change management & continuous improvement, VA/VE activities, and execution of ongoing price negotiations / adjustments. Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and operational guidelines related to established quality management system (MAFACT, MQS, IATF 16949). Together with engineers, operations, quality, and program managers maintain lesson learned analysis for all programs won or lost.

  • Oversees dept to manage series production phases including change management, continuous improvement, and VA/VE activities. Maintains working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.

Your preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required. Technical / Engineering Degree is required. Must possess a combined 10+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering and program management within the automotive industry.

  • Strong technical background in state-of-the-art manufacturing and assembly technologies that may include knowledge of powertrain systems & components and a good understanding of cross-functional responsibilities.

  • Experience in lean manufacturing & digitization to support factory of the future implementation.

  • Must possess moderately advanced usage of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint); must be/become proficient in company & customer systems.

  • Must possess ability to lead/direct assignments and development of advanced manufacturing engineers and program managers.

  • Previous experience in a plant operations role or environment is required
