Air Combat Command MAINTENANCE WORKER (MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR) in Shaw AFB, South Carolina

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Carolina Pines Inn Shaw AFB, SC. Responsibilities Inspects buildings and structures to determine nature and extent of repairs required. Performs minor repairs on existing structures and furnishings. Replaces trim and baseboards and broken, discolored, or missing acoustical ceiling tile, window screens, and other damaged components. Repairs sticking doors/windows and replaces weather stripping, adjusts loose hinges, repairs faulty door locks. Inspects for plumbing and electrical repairs, responds to work orders, and locates and makes repairs to plumbing. Removes, cleans, replaces, packages, and scales defective parts of utility, supply and disposal systems such as dirty traps, sections of broken tile or pipe, and leaky drains using appropriate tools. Caulks and seals elbows, joints, tile, pipes, faucets and shower drain, walls, sinks and tubs. Inspects equipment, furnishings, and buildings for deterioration of painted surfaces and rusty metal surfaces. Mixes and blends paints and other coating material to obtain desired consistency and color following specific written directives. Applies paint to interior and exterior surfaces such as furniture, doors, walls, trims, strips porches and similar surfaces. Provide minor maintenance to wooden furniture and other lodging assets as well as cabinets, counters, flooring, walls, ceilings, doors and plumbing. Conducts preventative maintenance on equipment such as vacuums, steam cleaners and power tools. Periodically moves heavy furniture to facilitate cleaning, occasionally vacuums and cleans carpet and draperies. Moves washers and dryers to enable thorough cleaning. Shampoos carpet using industrial type power equipment. Hangs and moves pictures. Moves and replaces excess or broken furnishings and equipment in guest rooms and in the lodging warehouse. Overseas contractor compliance during furniture and asset installation as part of lodging renovations. Maintains logs and status updates of maintenance called into other agencies such as Civil Engineers (CE). Prepares AF Forms 332 and ensures proper routing through base agencies. Assess safety issues for possible Risk Assessment with Safety. Ensures estimates and pictures where needed are provided as supporting documentation. Performs Quarterly check with CE for tracking of work orders. Ensures maintenance issues are not closed prior to satisfactory work. Manages and blocks rooms in Defense Lodging System. Acts as Safety Representative for the lodging operation. Conducts walk through of facilities and grounds to include the lodging playground and pavilions, tracks and ensures annual maintenance of fire extinguishers. Ensures correction of existing hazards and monitors discrepancies to completion. Answers safety reports and maintains reports and answers for five years. Ensures vehicles are checked daily, proper documentation is conducted, and minor maintenance and upkeep is performed including replacing batteries and maintaining fluids. Schedules vehicles for maintenance through the lodging Vehicle Control Officer (VCO). Be able to drive various vehicles to include forklifts and large utility vehicles. Ensures all Lodging Checklist items are properly documented and maintained. Qualifying Experience: Be able to perform duties independently, plan sequence of duties and select appropriate equipment and supplies necessary to accomplish assignments. Have a background in maintenance, have experience with various tools and be able to manage time to ensure minimal down time of guest rooms. Preferable to have knowledge of Defense Lodging System (DLS) and experience with Lodging Lock systems. Maintain a safe and clean work environment and must have experience with AF basic environmental Safety and documentation. Have experience with office computer systems and be able to prepare and manage spreadsheets. Complete an employment physical. Possess a current driver's license. Be physically able to frequently lift and carry medium to heavy objects up to 50 pounds and be able to occasionally lift and carry objects up to 70 pounds. Be able to actively bend, stoop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions. Successfully complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a Testing Designated Position (TOP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program. Pass a drug test as a condition of employment. Incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program. It is your responsibility to provide such evidence when applying. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
