Fortive Corporation Sourcing Engineer in Shanghai, China

Job Summary

The responsibilities of a Sourcing Engineer cover various aspects such as supplier management, procurement planning and quotation, quality assurance and risk management, delivery time and logistics management, process optimization and team building, support for new product development and marketing activities, making them a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of a company's supply chain. This role will direct report to APAC Operations Director.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Selection and Management

  • Supplier Screening and Evaluation : Responsible for screening, evaluating, and selecting appropriate suppliers to ensure they meet the company's requirements in terms of technical capability, production capacity, quality, delivery assurance, and overall credibility.

  • Supplier Relationship Management : Establish and maintain good relationships with suppliers, resolve daily business issues, optimize supplier resources, and establish strategic partnerships with key suppliers.

  • Supplier Information Database Development : Assist the procurement department in establishing a supplier information database, improving supplier management standards and processes, and enhancing procurement efficiency.

Procurement Planning and Quotation

  • Procurement Plan Development : Participate in the development and implementation of the annual sourcing plan based on company and department strategies, and formulate material procurement strategies.

  • Price Negotiation and Inquiry : Obtain the best prices and quality assurances through negotiation, inquiry, and other methods, and provide the procurement department with supplier-related information and technical support.

  • Quotation Analysis : Conduct quotation analysis, including cost analysis and comparison with three bids, to ensure price reasonableness.

Quality Assurance and Risk Management

  • Quality Assurance : Monitor and coordinate the entire process from procurement to logistics and final destination to ensure that product quality meets company standards and achieve cost optimization.

  • Risk Management : Promptly identify and resolve various supply and inventory issues to reduce risks and even avoid losses, ensuring supply chain stability.

Delivery Time and Logistics Management

  • Order Delivery Coordination : Coordinate with suppliers on order delivery times to ensure timely product delivery.

  • Logistics Plan Development : Develop appropriate logistics plans to ensure safe and timely product delivery to the destination.

  • Logistics Cost Control : Negotiate favorable logistics prices to reduce logistics costs.

Process Optimization and Team Building

  • Process Optimization : Responsible for sorting out and optimizing the sourcing quality control process, formulating corresponding process specifications and implementing them; reviewing and optimizing procurement-related processes to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

  • Team Building : Responsible for team building, personnel development, workflow design and optimization within the department, conducting performance evaluations, guiding and supervising subordinates in business operations, and continuously improving professional skills.

Support for New Product Development and Marketing Activities

  • Support for New Product Development : Support new product development efforts, including the application for research and development samples.

  • Support for Marketing Activities : Provide support for the development of new products and projects, and participate in related marketing activities.

Other Responsibilities

  • Continuous Collection of Supply Resources : Continuously collect various supply resources, establish, maintain, and update the supplier database.

  • Participation in Training Activities : Participate in procurement-related training activities to enhance personal and team professional capabilities.

  • Complete Other Tasks Assigned by Leaders : Complete other tasks assigned by leaders.

Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education : Bachelor’s degree in international Trade or related field, or bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or related field.

Experience : Minimum of 5 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, vendor management or a related field. Experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.

Skills :

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to develop and implement policies and procedures.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and audit processes.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant software applications.

Working Conditions

  • This role is primarily based on-site

  • The Sourcing Engineer may need to travel to work at supplier side to support site operations and purchasing events on a need basis.
