Bloomberg Senior Data Management Professional - Data Quality - Sustainable Fixed Income Data, Shanghai in Shanghai, China

Our Team:

Our Sustainable Fixed Income (SFI) data team is seeking a Data Management Professional to integrate end user’s needs into our overall data strategy and drive product quality. The sustainable debt market has expanded in recent years, with total global sustainable debt issuances approaching USD 6 trillion. As a team, we are responsible for managing and enhancing SFI-related content for approximately 48,000 Green, Social, Sustainability & Sustainability Linked instruments across the Corporate, Sovereign, Municipal and Syndicated Loan markets including security specific attributes, regulatory or market-recognized principles and alignments, relevant analytics, and proprietary sustainable debt assessments for use in the Bloomberg Terminal and Enterprise products. We engage with the sustainable finance community to explore and validate new ideas. Multi-functional collaboration, deep domain knowledge, thoughtful automation, and data management expertise are paramount for our ability to continuously deliver high quality data to our rapidly growing client base.

What’s the Role?

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a passion for finance, data, and technology to build and optimize our data product by developing and implementing our data quality strategy and quality assurance practices. As a Data Management Professional focusing on quality, you will help build out effective data management solutions and promote practices to define, measure and manage data quality of our datasets. This includes applying industry standard methodologies to devise quality checks and quality metrics in the ETL processes that create, transform and store data, and measure data against standards defined by our clients’ needs. In this role you will also be responsible for maintaining trusted relationships with clients, and internal partners such as product managers, engineers, and sales specialists. You will join a diverse team of dedicated individuals and experts where your interests and passion will have a significant impact on the team’s success.

We’ll Trust You To:

  • Become a true domain expert in Sustainable Finance by demonstrating your understanding of the datasets and market conditions, and by acting as a trusted adviser to your network internally and externally

  • Develop, refine, and deliver the strategy for how to achieve best-in-class data quality, and nurture organizational change around data quality as a domain of data management

  • Closely collaborate with Product and Engineering counterparts to help craft data quality strategy, execution roadmap, define return on investment and technical solutions

  • Perform data profiling and apply statistical methods to support data quality measurement

  • Ensure our data is fit-for-purpose and ready-to-use by proactively reviewing the depth, timeliness and accuracy of datasets against user’s expectations

  • Keep up with the industry trends, standards, and innovation in the data quality domain

You'll need to have:

  • A BA/BS degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, or relevant STEM field, or equivalent professional work experience

  • Strong presentation and communication skills in English

  • 4+ years of professional experience in data quality management and/or establishing data governance metrics

  • 4+ years of experience in crafting and developing data quality metrics and reporting

  • Experience working with ETL processes and broader data workflow engineering concepts

  • Ability to optimally communicate and present concepts and methodologies to diverse audiences

  • Strong agile/scrum project management experience while working with tight deadlines

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse team environment

We'd Love to See:

  • Business fluency to read, write, and verbally communicate in Japanese, Mandarin, and/or Korean

  • DAMA CDMP, DCAM certification

  • Project or work experience using one or more programming language such as Python, SQL and R

  • Good understanding of Fixed Income and Sustainable Debt markets

  • Good understanding of our user’s workflows and data needs to ensure our offering is fit-for-purpose
