Applied Materials Marketing Communications Specialist in Shanghai, China

Our customers rely on Applied SmartFactory® automation software solutions to improve process quality, increase productivity, and maximize performance of operations and scheduling. Currently, we focus on manufacturers in semiconductor, pharmaceuticals, solar, display, battery and automotive. Our list of industries that we serve is growing and our commitment to expand our marketing team in Asia to support our new business is a top priority.

Are you a talented storyteller, adept at executing external marketing campaigns from start to finish, enjoy multi-tasking, proficient in developing cost-effective ways of promoting software solutions, and inspired to engage external audiences from the user perspective?

This is a new position. Initially, you will be the only marketing person on our team that is based in Asia, reporting into the marketing team that is based in the U.S. This is a big opportunity to take initiative and requires a person who thrives on multi-tasking and is experienced with running numerous marketing initiatives simultaneously.

Marketing Domains:

  • Copywriting/editing/producing web content, videos, email blasts, promotional materials, social posts, collateral

  • On-site events planning/management (symposiums, user groups, seminars) and virtual events (webinars)

  • Paid and organic search and advertising campaigns

  • Analytics tracking and reporting

  • Lead generation/database management

  • Marketing materials translation process (English to Chinese)

High-level Responsibilities:

  • Execute and manage web marketing communications designed to develop new relationships and strengthen current relationships in Asia and other markets as needed

  • Write unique, creative and engaging content (web, collateral, social, email)

  • Plan, manage and promote on-site and virtual events

  • Collaborate with marketing team and outside agencies to create marketing assets (graphics, videos, data sheets, articles, webinars, presentations, signage, postcards)

  • Work closely with sales to support their customer priorities

  • Work with relevant media channels and third-party sites to increase Applied’s visibility and brand power in the Asian market

Required Skills/Qualities:

  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

  • Great multi-tasker and highly organized and detail-oriented

  • Ability to stay focused and prioritize under pressure

  • Experience in advertising, media relations, and events management

  • Expert knowledge in the latest digital & social media technology & channels (web, email, Google, LinkedIn, Wechat, Youku, Baidu, webinar platforms)

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

  • Excellent knowledge of English (both speaking and writing)

  • Positive attitude, team player, energetic

  • Coordinates with and manages creative agencies

  • Excellent project and deadline management skills

  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (corporate marketing, sales, engineering, legal, IT (based in U.S. and other regions)

  • College degree in marketing, communications and/or technical areas

  • Experience in software industry

  • Comfortable reporting to marketing team based in U.S. and working with teams based outside of U.S.
