Sartorius Maintenance Manager in Shanghai, China
The position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's facility operations for a specific area. In addition to leading a team, this position involves managing the day-to-day functions, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, and contributing to strategic facility planning.
Main Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Facility Management
Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of office spaces and BSL-2 laboratories.
Ensure all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems, are functioning properly and efficiently.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance programs.
- Vendor Management
Supervise and manage a team of maintenance technicians and vendors.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.
- Safety and Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and biosafety protocols specific to BSL-2 laboratories. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities.
- Budget and Resource Management
Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance services and supplies to ensure compliance and appropriate plan.
Ensure cost-effective procurement of maintenance materials and equipment.
- Project Management
Plan and oversee facility improvement projects, including renovations and upgrades.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure timely and successful project completion. Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise.
- Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
Prepare and present regular reports on facility operations and maintenance status.
Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.
- Other tasks assigned by the superiors.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field. PMI is a plus.
Minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably BSL-2, is highly desirable.
- Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.
Excellent leadership and team management skills.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Knowledge of safety regulations and biosafety protocols.
Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Solid Written English is a must while workable oral English will be a plus.
- Working Conditions
The position may require occasional evening or weekend work to address emergencies or conduct maintenance activities.
The role involves working in both office and laboratory environments, with adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
