Sartorius Maintenance Manager in Shanghai, China

The position will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the organization's facility operations for a specific area. In addition to leading a team, this position involves managing the day-to-day functions, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, and contributing to strategic facility planning.

Main Responsibilities & Tasks:

  1. Facility Management
  • Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of office spaces and BSL-2 laboratories.

  • Ensure all building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety systems, are functioning properly and efficiently.

  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules and preventive maintenance programs.

  1. Vendor Management
  • Supervise and manage a team of maintenance technicians and vendors.

  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members.

  1. Safety and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and biosafety protocols specific to BSL-2 laboratories. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities.
  1. Budget and Resource Management
  • Prepare and manage the maintenance budget, including forecasting and tracking expenses. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance services and supplies to ensure compliance and appropriate plan.

  • Ensure cost-effective procurement of maintenance materials and equipment.

  1. Project Management
  • Plan and oversee facility improvement projects, including renovations and upgrades.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external contractors to ensure timely and successful project completion. Monitor project progress and address any issues that arise.

  1. Documentation and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on facility operations and maintenance status.

  • Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and accessible.

  1. Other tasks assigned by the superiors.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field. PMI is a plus.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in facilities management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.

  • Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably BSL-2, is highly desirable.

  1. Skills and Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety systems.

  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and biosafety protocols.

  • Proficient in using maintenance management software and tools.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Solid Written English is a must while workable oral English will be a plus.

  1. Working Conditions
  • The position may require occasional evening or weekend work to address emergencies or conduct maintenance activities.

  • The role involves working in both office and laboratory environments, with adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
