VF Corporation Director, Product and Marketing (TNF APAC) in Shanghai, China

Position Summary:

  • Leads the APAC Product & Merchandising team of assigned territory, combining art and science to deliver against Brand and Business goals.

  • Creates consumer focused compelling assortments that drive APAC growth and revenue across channels and categories.

  • Collaborate with Global Merchandising, Design & Marketing teams to ensure product ranges, launch and flow meet strategic vision and financial targets.

  • Strategically partner with Global Merchandising teams to ensure global assortment plan translates to regional plans, while also driving for a more global assortment.

  • Define any business opportunities within APAC base on local Consumer insights, work with APAC design and product development team to build supplementary products to close the business gap.

How You Will Make a Difference:

  • Drives Global Segmentation at Consumer, Territory, Channel & Tier level to create necessary distinction for sustainable growth

  • Develop APAC Pricing, Ranging & Buying strategy to support category NS, Margin & Growth targets aligned with APAC GM & Finance

  • Understand competitive APAC markets and consumers to ensure assortment and categories properly position The North Face to grow and gain market share

  • Build and execute Merchandising plan to grow shared global assortment in APAC

  • Identify growth opportunities of assigned territory, big trends and ideas as well as driving global alignment and effectiveness of the assortment across DTC (B&M, ECOM) and DTP (Wholesale & Distributor). Capture local growth opportunities & Business gap through partner with Design teams (APAC and Global) and APAC Product Development teams to create products which sit under ONE Global seasonal design direction and framework

  • Partner with Regional & Global functions in providing upfront Strategy and Financial input into Global Seasonal planning process

  • Partner with Global Merchandising, Design and Marketing team to ensure Territory vision and value proposition are being upheld while maintaining brand DNA and Regional relevance

  • Partner and collaborate with Regional Marketing, Planning, B&M, ECOM, DTP sales teams to understand specific needs to ensure channel and account needs are met

  • Reconcile regional merchandise financial plans, assortment plans, line plans and buy plans at key milestones to ensure alignment and deliver Brand and APAC Business goals

  • Manage and drive growth of Icons and Franchise including effective Product Lifecycle Management

  • Manage SKU productivity and efficiency to targeted goals while balancing APAC regional, channel and account specific needs

  • Partner with Marketing on the development of programs and strategies to communicate product attributes, flow, appeal

  • Mentor/Coach for APAC merchandising excellence

Skills for Success

  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written, strong cross functional collaboration skills required

  • Strong presentation skills, proven ability to influence internal and external business partners and customers

  • Strong understanding of APAC marketplace, including regional differences, across diverse channels of distribution

  • Ability to play an integral role within a broader cross-functional team, to build consensus, connect department and individual expectations to the company vision, and achieve results across a variety of distinct groups.

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Experience in strategic planning, combined with knowledge of retail sales analysis and interpretation of data to identify opportunities

  • Experience in product creation and design (a plus)

  • Experience in product forecasting and/or statistical modeling (a plus)

  • Understanding of product development and manufacturing process (a plus)

Experiences:

Minimum Relevant Experience:

  • 8+ years of experience in branded merchandise/development, retail buying or product design/development; experience in Outdoor or Sportswear apparel/footwear.

  • International Brand, Product & Merchandising experience is a must.

Minimum Supervisory Experience:

  • 5+ years in management including leading a team.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Minimum Degree Held:

  • Bachelor of Arts: Merchandising, Product Management, Business preferred.

  • Subject Expert In:

  • Experience in managing/developing a team or individual towards growth potential.
