A FPGA Engineer is needed for an American defense, aviation, information technology, and biomedical research company in the Shalimar, FL area. This role involves designing, implementing, and testing firmware solutions for FPGAs, optimizing for performance, and supporting hardware design teams with embedded systems, circuit design, and high-speed communication protocols.

responsibilities:

  • Architect, implement, and test firmware solutions for FPGAs and supporting circuitry.

  • Assist design teams with circuit and PCBA design, embedded processor/microcontroller, SoC designs, and technical trade studies.

  • Evaluate technology improvements and perform DSP function design and implementation.

  • Implement FPGA designs using VHDL in Xilinx Vivado.

  • Optimize FPGA designs for resource utilization, power consumption, and performance.

  • Apply timing closure techniques, including timing constraints, to ensure performance and timing accuracy.

  • Write test benches to simulate and validate FPGA designs.

  • Utilize ModelSim for design simulation and verification.

Skills:

  • Expertise in embedded software/firmware design.

  • Proficiency with C/C++, VHDL, and TCL.

  • Experience in FPGA system design from architecture to implementation.

  • Familiarity with Xilinx FPGA families and design tools (7-series FPGAs, Ultrascale+, Vivado).

  • Experience with high-speed serial communication standards (e.g., Aurora, 10Ge, PCIe, DDR4/3/2/1, JESD204B).

  • Knowledge of internal interfaces such as AXI4, AXI4-Stream, and AXI4-Lite.

  • strong problem-solving skills and experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, test equipment, and debugging.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.

  • 15+ years of relevant experience.
