Air Combat Command ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT ASSISTANT in Seymour Johnson AFB, North Carolina

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary point of contact to the squadron commander for all administrative, personnel, security, information management, and support programs. Responsibilities Directly assists the commander in the management of all administrative support program functions and leads staff of information managers. Serves as squadron liaison with Commander's Consolidated Support Staff (C2S2) and coordinates standard personnel actions such as assignments, enlistments, reenlistments, promotions, awards & decorations, performs evaluations, duty title & AFSC updates, routine boards, separations, or similar matters and performs a substantive review of records to determine eligibility for actions. Serves as Squadron Facilitates Manager. Process requests for Personnel Security Investigations (PSIs) and performs substantive reviews of security clearance applications, and establishes, processes, and maintains Security Information Files (SIFs). Performs tasks involving budget execution Jon by compiling resource data from various financial management reports. Performs other clerical and administrative work in support of the office/organization. Uses multiple office automation software with varied functions to produce wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, editing and reformatting electronic drafts, and updating or revising existing databases or spreadsheets . Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-6, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes serving as the primary point of contact for all administrative support programs such cybersecurity, defense travel system, drug demand reduction, health care, fitness, purchase card, safety, security, supply, civilian timecard and unit recognition programs; overall administrative and activity room operations; evaluating program efficiency to implement processes to improve programs; assessing manpower authorizations and utilization; ensuring all actions are accomplished and if problems exist, identify other alternatives as needed; independently noting and following-up on commitments made at meetings/conferences; using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to prepare and edit written correspondences and reports; using office automation to produce a wide range of documents that often require complex formats, such as graphics or tables within text, to edit and reformat electronic drafts, and to update and revise existing databases or spreadsheets. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-6 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-7 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: I. Knowledge of various office automation, personnel programs and systems, travel and financial management software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and squadron budget execution and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs. 2. Knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and format to accurately prepare and edit written correspondence and reports. 3. Knowledge of format, rules, procedures and operations applicable to clerical assignments to prepare/review routine correspondence/reports, screen telephone calls and visitors, maintain files/records, review and process mail, and perform clerical procedures to arrange a variety of material from different sources and other administrative work of organization. 4. Knowledge of information technology requirements and processes to support assigned squadron computer related equipment. 5. Ability to locate, assemble, and compose information for routine reports, inquiries, and non-technical correspondence. 6. Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, using tact and courtesy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
