The Summer Aide assists the Summer Program Teacher in providing both direct care and programmatic services for youth who have physical and intellectual disabilities and attend the Verland summer school program. The Summer Aide provides specialized care in the areas of perception, self-direction, adapted living skills, social skills, sensorimotor and communication. This is a temporary, hourly, non-exempt position paying $18.00 hr. The typical schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00a-2:30p from June through August.

 Summer Youth Program Aide duties include:

  •  Implementation of goal objective plans and procedural goal objectives 
  •  Providing a safe and clean environment for the students 
  •  Using behavioral principles to foster maximum independence (social role valorization) 
  •  Observing the student's behavior and reporting it accurately 
  •  Performing needed housekeeping duties; 
  • ·Providing escort services for students utilizing community resources 
  • ·Providing personal care for the students 
  • ·Performing other job related duties as required
  • ·Serving as a Direct Support Professional and assisting with residents' personal care, hygiene, and meals, escorting youth to community activities, and performing needed housekeeping duties

Requirements

  • High school diploma and at least one year completion of Human Services curriculum in college required
  • Experience providing personal care preferred 
  • Must have valid driver's license and access to a vehicle and successfully complete clearances and  physical, drug screen 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • This position requires sitting, standing, walking and driving.  Also required are the abilities to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds independently, bend and stretch as needed, see, hear, speak, write, push, pull, climb, twist, reach,
