Photography & Events Winter Internship

Summary:

Under the guidance of the Marketing and Communications team, this position will focus on creating and editing photo and video content, updating the ASLC photo and video archive, and crafting engaging stories for social media and digital platforms. This position will also play a critical role on the team that organizes major fundraising events, including photographing donated items and some fine art pieces for the ASLC online art auction. Candidates should be able to think creatively and strategically while assisting with traditional marketing and communications tasks.

Education/Training Requirements:

Applicants must be college graduates or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with a background or coursework in a related field such as photography, digital marketing, or photojournalism.

Essential Duties:

  1. Photo and Video Creation: Produce high-quality photos and engaging video clips that effectively share ASLC stories. Use Adobe Creative Suite and other editing software to refine these assets, producing polished final products that captivate and inform our audience.

  2. Archiving: Organize and maintain an extensive photo and video content archive for the ASLC, ensuring easy accessibility and efficient retrieval for future use.

  3. Content Creation: Assist in producing, editing, and distributing social media and digital content for ASLC about animal care, research, and more to engage audiences across digital platforms.

  4. Support for Fundraising Events: Work closely with Marketing & Communications, and Development teams to understand and help accomplish two major fundraising events, the ASLC Soirée and the ASLC Online Auction. Assist with effectively translating ideas into captivating imagery that aligns with our fundraising needs.

  5. Product Photography, Setup, Lighting: Play a critical role in establishing and maintaining a well equipped photography area for high-end art, clothing, and specialty item photography for the ASLC Online Auction, using lighting, backdrops, and props to ensure consistent and professional results.

  6. Event Assistance: Work closely with the Marketing & Communications, and Development teams to assist with event planning and day-of-event functions for the ASLC Soirée and ASLC Online Auction Fundraising events.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Ability to speak effectively and to be comfortable meeting new people when interfacing with guests. Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills. Must be PC literate with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint experience. Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is helpful. Candidates should be willing to take initiative and motivated to seek new learning opportunities.

Unpaid Internship: Housing Provided
