UPMC Medical Assistant - Radiology Diagnostic in Seneca, Pennsylvania

Responsibilities:

  • Organize patient schedules and manage patient flow, accompanying individuals to exam and procedure rooms as needed.

  • Assist patients with mobility, transfers, dressing, and specimen collection while preparing them for examinations.

  • Collect patient histories, vital signs, and perform screenings per provider guidelines, relaying important instructions to patients and families.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulations when sending and receiving patient medical records.

  • Prepare exam rooms, set up instruments, and maintain infection control by cleaning between visits and following maintenance protocols.

  • Manage inventory of supplies, restocking exam rooms, and completing necessary forms and requisitions for lab/x-ray reports and referrals.

  • Perform clinical procedures, including phlebotomy, EKGs, and level one labs, while assisting physicians during procedures and documenting all patient information accurately.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality of medical records, comply with OSHA and CLIA regulations, and administer medications and vaccines under physician supervision.

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of medical terminology, examination, diagnostic and treatment room responsibilities

Preferred:

  • Medical Assistant experience

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal

  • Act 33 with renewal

  • Act 34 with renewal

  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
