UPMC Casual ER Patient Care Tech (Perfect for Nursing Students) in Seneca, Pennsylvania

Prior PCT or EMT experience is strongly preferred. We’re seeking a commitment of at least one shift per week, with opportunities for additional hours over school breaks.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform core nursing assistant tasks, including vital signs, blood glucose checks, I&O, and specimen collection.
Conduct advanced skills as needed, such as phlebotomy, EKGs, Foley catheter removal, and point-of-care testing.
Communicate effectively with healthcare teams and provide patient status updates.
Maintain a safe and respectful environment, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and safety protocols.
Support patient mobility, transport, meal assistance, and comfort measures.
Document patient care accurately and complete clerical tasks as required.
Educate patients and families on care instructions per RN direction.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and department projects.
Continuously seek professional development through feedback, training, and self-review
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Enrollment in a Nursing Program with:
1 year of healthcare experience, OR
6 months as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency within 120 days, OR
Completion of at least 1 clinical rotation in a nursing program.
Prior PCT / EMT experience strongly preferred
Strong communication skills.
Medication access limited to distribution to the nurse.
Certifications & Clearances:
CPR (AHA standards) required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS preferred.
Act 31 Mandated Reporter Training within 90 days of hire/transfer.
Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
Act 33 with renewal
Act 34 with renewal
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
