UPMC Behavioral Health Nurse (weekend program) in Seneca, Pennsylvania

Join the UPMC Northwest team in the Behavioral Health Unit! The unit has a large focus on teamwork and collaboration and is dedicated to making a difference in the lives of its patients! This position will work either 8-hour or 12-hour shifts on the weekends between the hours of 7:00 PM Friday – 7:00 AM Monday. The unit offers flexible schedules.

WEEKEND Program: Earn an extra 25% differential added to the base salary and requires 6 months of previous nursing experience.

$15,000 Sign-On Bonus for Registered Nurses with 1 or more years of experience and includes a 2-year work commitment to UPMC.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides detailed patient and family education for effective care guidance and transitions

  • Supports the development of students, new staff, and colleagues, possibly serving as a preceptor

  • Applies the nursing process in a Relationship Based Care framework to create a healing environment

  • Develops daily goals and patient-centered care plans, incorporating holistic patient needs

  • Demonstrates critical thinking in identifying clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues

  • Practices effective communication skills, documenting comprehensively to facilitate caregiver communication

  • Incorporates organizational goals to improve patient safety, quality, and satisfaction

  • Builds compassionate patient-focused relationships with patients, families, and colleagues

  • Previous experience strongly preferred

  • Good clinical judgment with critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Mobility and visual manual dexterity.

  • Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting and positioning of patients. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Registered Nurse (RN) OR Temporary Practice Permit (TPP)

*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
