About the Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an Early Shift Manager to join The Box Encapsulation Plant project at Sellafield.
The Box Encapsulation Plant project is one of the most important construction projects at the Sellafield Site, the plant will play a vital role in Sellafield’s 100-year clean-up programme by taking nuclear waste recovered from the sites original wasteplants and encasing it in concrete so it can be stored in a modern building. The plant is primarily designed to deal with waste from the Magnox Swarf Storage Silo, one of four legacy waste plants prioritised for clean-up by Sellafield Ltd’s owner, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA). Alongside that work, the plant will also receive certain wastes from the other three legacy waste stores, the First-Generation Magnox Storage Pond, the Pile Fuel Storage Pond, and Pile Fuel Cladding Silo.
The BEP Joint Venture project will safely design and deliver a Plant and the works in accordance with the requirements of the contract to enable conditioning of wastes from the various donor plants, carried out in line with the Employer’s needs and to the satisfaction of stakeholders in the Box Encapsulation Project (BEP).
Responsibilities:
This role provides management and leadership in support of a multi-disciplinary team, ensures that works are coordinated and delivered safely by the demands of the programme.
The role will require liaison with the Construction Manager, Deputy Construction Managers, safety team, night shift works manager, multi discipline leads and Physical Area Coordinators for the coordinated delivery of on-site works.
The Shift Manager duties will include but not be limited to:
Manage / conduct the Plan Of the Day (PLOD) & ensure full coordination with the Plan Of the Night
Coordinate SIMMOPS associated with the PLOD / PLON, ensuring work face attendance.
Carry out periodic safety & environment tours
Ensure that sufficient resources are allocated to the works section.
General management of the site, signage, access, security, compound areas, site notices, amenities.
Site audits / checks.
Assist Physical Area Coordinator and construction teams in planning stage programmes.
Monitor the distribution of plant items, ensures the off hire of items not in use
Foresee, negate, address any potential site IR issues
The start time for this role is 02:30am, 10-hour shifts.
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Experience / Skills:
Engineering Discipline Qualification with relevant Engineering Institution/Professional Qualification (Preferred)
Experience of multi discipline construction operations with experience in leading teams on significant EPC contracts is essential.
Construction Management Experience
Working knowledge and understanding of NEC contracts
Experienced in Microsoft applications with the ability to create / monitor and report using Excel, Word & PowerPoint
