Position: General Labor - Ross Plant Location: Selah, WA Job Id: 1130 # of Openings: 6 General LaborSUMMARY:Operate machinery, relieve co-workers for breaks, and assist where needed. Fill, press, and watch belts to stacker on packing line and occasionally seal bags. Inspect fruit, sorting out foreign material, bruise, peel, core, stems, leaves, and any other defects that are present. Trim fruit as instructed. Communicate with Team Leaders, Lab Technicians, Moisture Technicians, and Supervisor.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices.It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks.This is a representative sample--not to imply a complete listing of all responsibilities and tasks.Assist Where Assigned / NeededRotate to different tasks per Packaging Team Lead's instructionsAssist in breaks and lunches as requiredComplete any other tasks as required, i.e. sweep floors, etc.Fill boxes with product to customer specificationsWeigh cases of product to meet customer specificationsSeal finished box/container to customers specificationsPalletize according to customer specificationsProcess re-work product as neededCommunicate EffectivelyReceive information / instructions from Team Leaders and SupervisorExchange information with co-workers, Team Leaders, and SupervisorNotify Lab Techs of any foreign material or recurring quality problemsTrain new and temporary employees as requiredKnow where to find required company specificationsOperate EquipmentAttain necessary knowledge of equipment operation as neededOperate press, tape machine, and blend line equipment as necessaryRelieve co-workers on equipment when requiredStartup blend line equipment as neededOperate forklift occasionally as required to perform duties (must have Forklift Certification)Wear seat belt at all times when operating a forkliftInspect Fruit / Pick Out Foreign MaterialWear sanitary gloves when handling productRemove defective fruit (rot/bruising, size, deformities, etc.)Sort out defects (rot/bruising, cross cores, peel, stems, calyx, burnt pieces, etc.)Watch for any recurring foreign materialSort out foreign materialRemove all trash from beltInspect all product as it proceeds down the lineNotify Lab Tech, Team Leader, and/or Supervisor as requiredCut Out Excess Cores StemsLook for any peeled apples that still have stem and coreUse knife (with caution) to cut away stem and part of coreClean Surrounding Belts, Chutes, Shakers, etc. Scrape screen in shaker to keep cleanRinse away peel and buildup from chutes and end of beltsMaintain GMPsEnsure cleaning procedures are followed in proper sequenceTrain/monitor crew in use of proper cleaning/sanitizing chemical-handling procedures and equipmentMaintain a clean work area; keep floors swept, brooms, squeegees, etc. in proper place; empty trash cans/bins as neededEmpty product waste containers and debris as neededInspect conveyor system to comply with GM
