Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Analyst will support the inventory control functions within the Finance Department. The Inventory Control Analyst will be responsible for the accuracy of inventory activity and levels, maintaining records, identifying and resolving inventory issues and variances, and providing solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy in inventory systems and financial statements. The Analyst will also assist with month-end closes, SOX testing, audits, cycle counts and physical inventories. This position will work closely with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely transmission of data in order to maintain accurate systems, prepare financial statements and support other reporting requirements.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
Conduct monthly closing of the inventory accounts
Monitor and assist with daily cycle count activities
Perform account reconciliations including perpetual inventory, Duty, Freight and accrued receipts
Analyze Average Unit Cost by Category and Department
Research to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in processes or implement new systems
Reconcile cycle counts and annual physical inventories for retail stores and Distribution Center inventory
Analyze on hand inventory to assist in supporting the business to identify and manage distressed inventory
Identify, research, and resolve inventory variance between the physical quantities and those in the system
Report any inventory variances over the predetermined threshold to loss prevention to further research
Monitor records to ensure all valid POs placed by the company are received at the correct location and correct in the system; research open POs to resolve as necessary
Complete special projects and ad hoc requests
Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly reporting and analysis models that track inventory and average costs
Perform additional duties or responsibilities as needed
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field
3-5 years of experience in inventory control or related areas
Retail experience a plus
Skills and Behaviors:
Proficient in Microsoft Office with excellent skills in Excel
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Must be highly organized with strong attention to detail
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong multi-tasking ability with disposition that remains calm and unaffected by changing direction
Flexibility during month-end and year-end inventory process which is fast-paced and extremely time-sensitive
Familiarity with general ledger and stockledger/merchandising systems a plus
Familiarity with SAP and Cognos a plus
