Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a professional position facilitating and marketing employment and training programs in the one-stop system.

  • Provides career services in individualized or group settings to persons who are unemployed, underemployed, or seeking new employment opportunities

  • May include services such as intake and assessment, career information, labor exchange services, job search assistance, job matching, job referrals, referrals for training, referrals to other agencies, application and resume review and assistance, interview techniques, provision of labor market information, and provision of program performance information

  • Provides intake and specialized services to Veterans and eligible spouses

  • Maintains accurate and complete documentation and records for follow-up on customers as appropriate

  • Interviews customers to ascertain employment options by assessing skills, interest, personal characteristics, education, work history, and limitations or barriers to job attainment or retention

  • Assists customers with establishing educational goals and developing employability plans for obtaining and retaining employment

  • Assists in the elimination of barriers to employment by providing customers with career services

  • Conducts recruitment, screening evaluation, and referral of applicants for posted job openings

  • Performs file search (job matching) on open job orders to find qualified applicants

  • Schedules and facilitates Reemployment Services Eligibility Assessment (RESEA) programs as appropriate

  • Explains and clarifies re-employment policies and procedures for re-employment compensation claimants to provide an understanding of rights and responsibilities, employment related options, and other relative information

  • Conducts employment-related workshops

  • Coordinates with community-based organizations (CBO) and refers customers to CBO for supportive services, as appropriate

  • Promotes CareerSource Center services and programs throughout the community

  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position :

  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing

  • Ability to make presentations

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures

  • Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Ability to promote and market Career Center

  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous and effective manner

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team

    Qualifications:

    As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

    Minimum:

  • The incumbent must possess or obtain certification as a Workforce Development Professional (Tier 1) within one year of employment in the position

  • May be required to travel locally and must provide own transportation

    Pay:

    $33,760 annually

    The Employment Security Representative I (ESRI) is a member of Florida Commerce team within CareerSource Heartland offices and will facilitate an overall office marketing/outreach plan, distributing information about services available in the career center.

    The Employment Security Representative I position is located in the Sebring, Florida office within Highlands County. Most of the area is rural and part of the Florida scrub ecosystem, with smaller areas of hammocks and cypress swamps and lakes. Sebring boasts of several award-winning museums, galleries, and art studios. Recreation opportunities in the area abound for people of all ages and include golf, hiking, freshwater swimming in our many lakes, fishing, boating, water skiing, airboat rides and other water sports.
