UW’s WWAMI Institute for Simulation in Healthcare (WISH) which is part of UW School of Medicine’s Department of Surgery has an exciting opportunity for a Simulation Program Site Manager at its Harborview Medical Center location.

The Simulation Program Site Manager role in collaboration with the Associate and Executive Directors is responsible for managing the day-to-day operational needs of the WISH-HMC educational facility, including coordination of simulation lab-related activities, tracking of research and educational data, and management of lab processes and workflows.

POSITION PURPOSE As an integral member of the team, the Simulation Program Site Manager provides guidance and support to faculty, learners, and members of the WISH technician team to ensure seamless operation of educational activities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • WISH Curriculum Development, Course Planning, Execution and Evaluation = 50% • WISH Programmatic Administration & Site Operations = 45% • WISH Outreach and Event Operations = 5%

The WISH-HMC Simulation Program Site Manager position encompasses three important domains, and requires an individual who is able to move smoothly between these domains. First, the position collaborates in development and implementation of simulation education curriculum. The Site Manager will work with a variety of healthcare subject matter experts to develop, operationalize and evaluate simulation education delivery. To be successful, the WISH-HMC Simulation Program Site Manager requires a deep understanding of program and educational priorities, including the many facets of curriculum development and implementation. In addition to knowledge of curriculum development, the position will interact with myriad healthcare professionals and needs strong ability to collaborate with them as a project lead. This domain of responsibilities requires strong organizational skills, initiative, intrapersonal skills and the ability to manage complex projects. Operationally, the Site Manager will be overseeing the day-to-day needs of WISH’s flagship facility at Harborview Medical Center and serve as part of a leadership triad in concert with WISH Site Managers at the NW and Montlake campus facilities. Their work will involve traveling between sites, managing faculty communication, course specific needs, staff schedules for training classes and numerous operational details at each site.

In addition, the WISH-HMC Simulation Program Site Manager will be part of the team that evaluates and improves simulation curricula and operational efficiency. In that regard, the WISH-HMC Site Manager will be successful if they understand best practices for developing workflows for the collection and management of training data. Finally, the position will manage various educational outreach and events for the Division of Simulation Science. Strong Emotional Intelligence, talent for and enjoyment from interacting with people in many different types of positions (from leadership at the UW to middle and high school students), and strong teamwork capability will be important for success in this position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS •BA/BS in Science, Adult Curriculum Development, or other related area •4 years of experience in programs involving educational activities or equivalent education/experience, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS •Ability to work autonomously in a complex and fast-moving environment with only general oversight. •Demonstrates ability to identify, organize, and communicate important details in a clear and meaningful way. •Demonstrates ability to successfully complete projects and tasks within a given timeline.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • 4 years of experience working in healthcare simulation or a closely affiliated field. • Experience working closely with biological specimen and familiarity with associated policies and regulations for safe and appropriate use.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• While primarily based at Harborview Medical Center, this position must be able to regularly travel between all WISH locations including our facility at Montlake and Northwest campuses, as needed to support operations. • WISH simulation equipment requires moving and positioning on a regular basis. The position calls for safe carrying of 40lbs simulation equipment, maneuvering in tight spaces, and occasional use of a ladder. Candidate must be physically able to move equipment and assist with transport/loading/moving between training locations. • The position requires the preparation of biological specimen for educational activities. Successful candidates should be open to working with, and in an environment that supports regular use of tissues and cadaveric specimen. • This position will primarily work on-site but may have some occasional flexibility for remote work as business needs permit.
