Cares of Washington VISTA Outreach Coordinator in Seattle, Washington

General description of job duties:

Job Brief: Ensure increased partnerships with housing and other resource/service providers to offer employment and other needed services to job seekers experiencing homelessness. Enhance training and funding to to grow an environment that offers job seekers a connected path to self-sufficiency and out of poverty.

YOUR Program & Your Impact:

You will work to move larger numbers of people out of poverty by building more long term partnerships between Cares of Washington and King County housing services organizations and basic service organizations, so that more job seekers experiencing homelessness can solve barriers to employment and lack of access to resources in the greater Seattle area. These outreach and educational efforts will increase the number of partnerships and increase the number of people placed in permanent jobs. You will write grants to increase funding to support more people move out of poverty. You will build out project structure and visibility through development of marketing materials and in person outreach and by creating partner training curriculum.

Role & What the Candidate Will Learn:

  • Increase partnerships with local housing and resource service providers

  • Conduct partnership gap analysis to identify missing/lacking areas of partnerships.

  • Identify which service providers would fill those gaps.

  • Conduct outreach and start partnership conversations

  • Establish MOU partnerships in collaboration with Program Manager

  • Develop/provide employment readiness training for navigators and clients

  • Identify employment readiness training needs

  • Identify curricula already existing that can fit needs

  • Reach out to existing curricula providers and gauge fit and cost to use curriculum in collaboration with Program Manager.

  • Develop training plans and curriculum to support job seekers in their job search

  • Provide internal and external trainings on curriculum

  • Revise and develop standard project materials i.e. forms, assessments, data collection

  • Review current materials in collaboration with program staff

  • Identify current and future program material needs

  • Develop new materials as needed in collaboration with program staff

  • Assist in implementation/training on new/updated materials

  • Establish consistent branding and messaging for project

  • Research current branding and messaging for program

  • Update/develop messaging for project in collaboration with program staff

  • Develop marketing materials for project in collaboration with program staff

  • Disseminate new marketing materials as part of program outreach

  • Increase funding for project

  • Identify and forecast funding needs with Program Manager

  • Research available funding sources

  • Write and submit funding applications

  • Track and manage application process/results

  • Passionate social justice advocate driven to end poverty in our region

  • Cultural humility and experience working with diverse populations

  • Flexibility! Ability to manage multiple tasks of competing priorities, doing what it takes to get things done in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Enthusiastic team player and critical thinker ready to contribute to systems change in supporting low-income students

  • Eager to take initiative and step into a leadership role

  • Ability to pass a WA State criminal history background check prior to employment.

    Required Eligibility:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be a US citizen, national or legal permanent resident alien of the US; For this federally-stipend program, F1 Visas are not sufficient

  • Must be available and on site 40 hours a week Monday - Friday from March 16, 2020, through March 15, 2021

  • Must already live (or be willing to move) within a 15 minute drive or 60 minute public transit commute from your service location.
