UW Medical Center–Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for an Unit Secretary to join us on our Medical Surgical Unit .

WORK SCHEDULE

• Part-time, 60% FTE

• Day Shift DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION Our unit is tailored specifically for low acuity medical-surgical patients, patients undergoing transitional care, and patients with light behavioral health needs PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Answers telephones using defined etiquette standards; routes calls and messages, greets and directs visitors and offers assistance, answers questions and follows through on inquiries, facilitates and acts as a positive liaison between the unit and other departments

• Maintains office equipment, inventories, orders, and restocks office supplies, organizes work area in the unit station, assists in maintaining a neat and organized work environment at unit nursing station

• Assists with patient admissions, transfers and discharges, assembles patient records, demonstrates accuracy in transcription and order management, enters transfers and discharges into the computer, copies charts; prepares charts for Medical Records on discharge

• Reviews MD orders and submits orders to Lab, Diagnostic Imaging, prioritizes work and completes work in a timely manner; able to multi-task effectively

• Answers patient intercom system effectively; responds appropriately to patient’s needs and/or alerts/refers to other unit staff members, assists with communication plan related to patients’ safety risks.
