Blue Origin LLC Sr Principal Lunar Thermal Architect - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Responsibilities: Participate as technical evaluation committee chair for Thermal design reviews of lunar landers and other spacecraft programs at Blue Origin Represent the company and project with key customers and partners Provide peer review to thermal design and analysis products Provide technical recommendations to multiple established spacecraft thermal design and analysis teams Provide oversight and design review to our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program Contribute to Blue Origin spacecraft Thermal design best practices and compile design guidelines Evaluate potential payloads/missions for vehicles in various stages of development Lead tiger teams to focus efforts on challenging vehicle and subsystem level issues Create training programs for new Thermal engineers based on internal and external resources. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering 20+ years relevant Thermal Engineering/Analysis experience Proven experience as a spacecraft thermal subject matter expert or Chief Engineer Expertise with both passive and active thermal control systems including thermal/fluids components Excellent written and verbal communication skills Experience with development in mission and safety-critical environments. Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and / or satellite flight systems Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Ability to gain literacy in Jira and Confluence tools used for decision making and programmatic tracking Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
