We are looking for a talented Software Development Manager to lead Amazon Device Reverse Logistics systems (ADRL). The ADRL team designs, builds and maintains software systems that manage the Reverse Supply Chain for Amazon Devices. Its north star is to provide a best-in-class returns and replacement experience for Amazon Customers (end customers, retailer partners who sell amazon devices and operators in the fulfillment center) to empower a frictionless return/repair experience.

Key job responsibilities

The Software Development Manager who will lead a team of software engineers in building innovative solutions for Amazon. As a Software Development Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers in the design, development, test, and deployment of our software and services.

The successful candidate will have an established background in developing complex systems, a strong technical background, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will work closely with senior leaders, product teams, customers, software engineers, scientists across Amazon to drive large cross-org innovations, influence customer experience and define technical strategy.

A day in the life

The Role: As a software development manager, your responsibilities include:

• Define, design, and deliver software applications

• Mentor and develop your team of engineers

• Manage the day-to-day activities of the engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment

• Collaborate with multiple business stakeholder, engineering and design teams to coordinate, prioritize and deliver to an ambitious roadmap

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience developing software

  • 5+ years of experience managing people

  • Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers

  • Experience taking complex projects from initial concept through final launch.

  • Exceptional customer relationship skills including the ability to discover the true requirements underlying feature requests and recommend alternative technical and business approaches

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Experience working with supply chain and/or manufacturing operations systems

  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
