Sales, Marketing and Global Services (SMGS)

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector. The AWS Global Support team interacts with leading companies and believes that world-class support is critical to customer success. AWS Support also partners with a global list of customers that are building mission-critical applications on top of AWS services.

Are you passionate about helping customers quickly make sense of massive amounts of data? Are you interested in building and operating a highly scalable data platform that is extremely simple to use? Do real-time streaming, Data-Mesh architecture, and Containerization, data discoverability, data quality, data security, data governance excite you?

The ideal candidate will be motivated, have strong attention to detail, and will model Amazon Leadership Principles. A familiarity with Amazon Web Service technologies including API Gateway, Lambda, MWAA, EC2, ECS, S3, SQS, SNS, CloudFormation, RDS, DynamoDB, as well as no-SQL solutions which form the foundation of these systems is an asset.

Key job responsibilities

Design, develop, implement, test, and document embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems and services. Translate functional requirements into robust, efficient, supportable solutions that work well within the overall system architecture. Participate in the full development cycle, end-to-end, from design, implementation, and testing to documentation, delivery and maintenance. Produce comprehensive, usable software documentation. Evaluate and make decisions around the use of new or existing software

products and tools. Mentor junior development engineers.

A day in the life

You solve difficult problems, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.

You work with your team to invent, design and build software that is stable and performant.

You are proficient in a broad range of design approaches and know when it is appropriate to use them (and when it is not). Your solutions are pragmatic.

You consider the legacy of the code you produce and write code that an SDE unfamiliar with the system can understand.

You limit the use of short-term workarounds. You do things with the proper level of complexity the first time (or at least minimize incidental complexity).

You create flexible software without over-engineering. You make appropriate trade-offs, re-use where possible, and are judicious about introducing dependencies.

You work on project ideas with customers, stakeholders, and peers.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

• 3+ years of programming using a modern programming language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design experience

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
