Senior Principal Software Engineer - C/Python/FreeBSD

The security of customers’ data and systems is of paramount importance to Dell Technologies. Our Product Security Engineering team designs and develops software and systems to minimize security risks within our products. As experts working at the cutting edge of security, we undertake vulnerability response handling, implement the security development lifecycle, coordinate security certifications and develop common software security components and toolkits. As well as ensuring the authenticity and integrity of the product code during product development, we mitigate risks of sourcing and delivery of counterfeit or maliciously tainted components in our products.

What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software basis the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

You will:

  • Lead engineering team for prototyping new feature requirements; guide the team through the research to find the right solution; review and approve the final solution before it can be committed to a new release.

  • Collaborate with product managers to understand business requirements and define the roadmap

  • Assess value, and prioritize new features / capabilities, stability enhancements and efficiency improvements to ensure product backlog reflects maximum return-on-investment

  • Work in close liaison with Dell Product and Application Security Office and drive Secure Development Lifecycle requirements for PowerScale.

  • Support critical customer engagement and answer customer’s questions/concerns about security.

  • Work with Product Manager, Dell Federal team and various vendors for security certifications.

Essential Requirements:

• 10+ years of extensive experience in software development

• 5+ years of working experience in the security domain

• Experience with multiple programming languages, databases, operating systems, tools and hardware platforms

• Experience in design, development and operating in large scale environments

• Experience working in collaborative coding environments (peer review, source control, continuous integration, etc.)

Desirable Requirements:

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related field

• Experience in with cryptography, particularly related to FIPS 140-2/3

• Experience with STIG, security certifications, and vulnerability response

• Experience working in distributed teams in multiple time zones

• Great communication and collaboration skills, an innate sense of curiosity, and an obsession with delivering products that bring end-users joy
