Blue Origin LLC Senior Crew Systems Responsible Engineer (R37912) in Seattle, Washington

SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably. As part of a hardworking team of diverse responsible engineers, the Crew Systems Engineer (RE) will collaborate to develop and align architectures, concepts of operations, hardware trades for the Space Destinations Crew Systems fluid based hardware on Orbital Reef, with specific focus on the commode. Involvement in the hardware design life cycle from requirements to design, acceptance and operations is required. The RE will interface with affected systems and stakeholders throughout the life cycle of the hardware development and will develop technical solutions and execute development, testing, and analysis to support technology maturation, trade studies, and down-selects. Expertise in fan sizing, airflow, air filters, fluids and air routing and sizing, fluid separation, pressure sensors and actuators, materials compatibility will support the maturation and down-select process. The Crew Systems Commode RE will evaluate hardware suppliers for technical, cost, and schedule adherence to the requirements and partner with the procurement team to drive execution and develop supplier relationships. Qualifications: Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering 7+ years of technical experience in the design and analysis of space systems, and 2+ years leading a team and/or project 3+ years of professional engineering experience with complex fluid systems Experience with aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles in the detail design of aerospace or equivalent type fluid systems and components Working knowledge of materials and treatments Experience troubleshooting fluids hardware Experience across the product life cycle (pre-conceptual design through operations support) Familiarity and experience with hands-on prototyping and design, mockup design and evaluation, engineering development units and test methods Experience managing and working collaboratively in small teams on fast-paced projects Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Desired: Experience with spacecraft crew systems technologies and architectures, with specific experience in commode designs and testing. Strong project management and team leadership skills, including the ability to utilize tools to manage schedule and technical requirements adherence and verification. Proficiency in Creo or other CAD design tools Proficiency in REFPROP, SINDA/FLUINT and Thermal Desktop or other fluid modeling software Experience with proposal development, proposal review, and supplier management Inclusivity Statement Don't meet all desired requirements?
