Reporting to the Global VP and Head of Innovation (Product, IP & Marketing), we are hiring a Senior Counsel of Product to join our Elastic Legal department in this fast growing, technologically leading, highly innovative, and truly globally distributed company. This position is ideal for a team oriented, self-sufficient, innovative, strategic, and resourceful attorney working in an international and fully distributed environment. What You Will Be Doing: This is a well-rounded and diverse role for a curious and engaging leader who enjoys finding solutions and bringing velocity to a quality outcome. In this capacity, you will: Act as the Senior Counsel primarily responsible for legal partnership to Elastic\'s engineering organization, in connection with the launch of Elastic\'s product offerings, including open source, inbound technology, SaaS, and cloud services; Negotiate, structure and handle a wide variety of commercial contracts, supporting our inbound IP and Open Source third party dependency integrations within our Products with a particular focus on strategic and tactical work, systems development and transactions for building out our productization systems. Handle strategic partnerships for inbound IP integrations. Be the subject matter authority in the area of open source and product development related laws. Partnering with our international team members on specific partner agreements in their respective regions where appropriate; Help build and strengthen workflows, playbooks, training and processes between our department and other departments within Elastic to enable our productization functions and compliance initiatives relating to the creation, development and release of our products and integrated support and services. Support product IP-related diligence of M&A targets and integration of IP from acquisitions and joint development into our portfolio whether by assignment or license, (e.g., transfer of inbound IP into productization processes); And review Elastic\'s existing and planned products, business activities, and R&D in the context of risks as they relate to the productization process, and laws and regulations. What You Bring Along: A JD (or LLM) from an accredited law school and are admitted to practice law in the U.S. including in the location where you reside. 7-10+ years of experience in Software Product related law and practice, including the ability to partner within a company to mature, manage, and grow complex systems for third party dependency management, productization processes and associated services and support functions. Thriving in a global, distributed environment. Contributing to driving innovation in the utilization of open source and third party dependencies in association with proprietary system creation.
