Tetra Tech AMT is looking for an Air Traffic Control/Aviation Environmental Specialist to support the Environmental Policy Team (AJV-E/C/W) within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The applicant will apply knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to analyze the environmental impact of various FAA actions and to support AJV-0. The applicant will ensure that environmental impacts and modeling are fully and properly analyzed using skill with FAA-approved environmental, airspace design and flight procedure design computerized tools. They will analyze data, identify problems, and recommend alternatives to resolve environmental issues with other members of the environmental team. Primary job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the OSGs and AJV-0 in efficiently managing the environmental screening process and in documenting, as appropriate, the screening analysis of environmental issues associated with the procedures or airspace redesign
  • Work with a team of OSG and AJV-11 personnel, procedures/airspace design teams, and other FAA environmental specialists to support procedure development effort
  • Deliver environmental screening reports to the OSG environmental specialists for the evaluation of environmental impacts and mitigation opportunities associated with route and procedure development
  • Will be responsible for delivering environmental screening reports using ATO-approved environmental screening tools including the Prescreening Filter, TARGETS Environmental Plug-in, Aviation Environmental Screening Tool (AEST), or other FAA-approved models
  • At a minimum, the environmental review specialist will provide reports to the OSG environmental protection specialist (EPS) that will include the baseline and proposed action designs and graphics and tool input and output
  • The reports will be used by the EPS for environmental and mitigation opportunities associated with route and procedure development

The successful candidate will have: Mandatory Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (desired) or equivalent practical experience.
  • A minimum of 10 years' experience as a Certified Professional Controller (CPC)
  • Practical experience doing technical work, especially if related to air traffic control or air traffic control procedures and airspace design.
  • Knowledge of and experience with airspace or procedures design.
  • Knowledge of the National Airspace System
  • Analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent facilitation and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in the use of industry standard office software (MS Office, Acrobat, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate technical results to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work with other people in a collaborative environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Terminal Area Route Generation Evaluation Traffic Simulation (TARGETS) software.
  • Knowledge of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
  • Experience with one or more of the following environmental models: 1) the Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT), 2) the AEDT Plug-in within the Terminal Area Route Generation, Evaluation, and Traffic Simulation (TARGETS) tool, 3) the Aviation Environmental Screening Tool (AEST), 4) the Integrated Noise Model

Salary Range: $109,000 to $112,000 annually. Compensation is based on relevant experience and qualifications. At Tetra Tech, health and safety play a vital role in our success.
