We are seeking a Senior Accountant to support our core accounting responsibilities for our fulfillment network in the North American region. This role will support the accounting and financial reporting for our US and Canada entities under US GAAP. This role will partner across the Capex and Leasing organization to support our geographic expansion and service and fulfilment network facility launches in the North American region. Key job responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

• Support various aspects of accounting and reporting process.

• Understand internal control design concepts sufficient to assess the effectiveness of controls and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities.

• Execute judgment to keep projects moving and ensure the right decisions are reached to close the books each month.

• Strong sense of ownership.

• Ability to identify process improvement and automation opportunities to drive positive change across the organization.

• Enhance partnerships between Accounting and various business and IT groups.

• Research, conclude and memorialize technical accounting position papers.

A day in the life

Working with Finance across multiple lines of business to configure asset capitalization process, including construction in progress, from end to end. Collaborating with global capex accounting team on process enhancement and accounting automation projects.

About the team

Equipment Leasing and Fixed Assets Accounting team is responsible for the end-to-end fixed asset and leasing operational accounting and reporting, enabling the expansion of Amazon's fulfilment network in the North America region.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of Fortune 500 operational accounting experience

  • CPA

  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO) to assess control design and operational efficiency

  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification

  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients

  • Experience researching and documenting support for accounting conclusions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
