The Self Perform Manager oversees the overall operations for all Seattle office based self-perform work (SPW). This position will oversee the process from preconstruction through final completion of the SPW portion of the project. You will work hand-in-hand alongside both preconstruction and operations and serve as the conduit between the two departments to provide guidance and oversight to ensure success in SPW. The position requires both a technical background in building structures as well as business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, have strong communication and internal client service skills.

What You’ll Do:


  • Communicate and enforce Skanska Safety and Health Management Program

  • Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others.

  • Develop skills and mentor project management employees, including conducting employee evaluations per Skanska’s guidelines, as required


  • Engage in constructability review sessions with preconstruction team. Provide guidance on details for both budget impact as well as best construction practices.

  • Participate in assembling and reviewing self perform estimates with preconstruction and project teams. Verify that preconstruction and project teams are aware of the assumptions made by SPW estimate and incorporated into project C & A’s.

  • Attend SPW project execution plan and schedule review meetings.

  • Develop scopes of work for suppliers and subcontractors within SPW scopes of work, review and provide guidance for buyout plans for SPW, and analyze scope leveling with team prior to award to SPW subcontractors.


  • Facilitate SPW job set up, cost coding, and budget reconciliation.

  • Advise on and periodically review the accuracy and timeliness of production quantity reporting and trade hour/timesheet submissions.

  • Conduct periodic reviews and be a resource for SPW forecasts at the project level. Ensure production tracking methods are being done correctly, correct software is being used, tracking is being done consistently over the course of the project, and participate in review meetings.

  • During review of forecasts bring attention of budget shortfalls to Sr. Project management team. Coordinate and help implement action plan to reduce exposure with onsite team to ensure profitability.

  • Ensure SPW cost management and subcontractor management protocols are being performed correctly.

  • Coordinate VDC, modeling, and lifting plans with project team.

  • Oversee project team organization for documentation and to capture historical actual SPW cost at closeout and development of lessons learned.


  • Lead SPW committee meetings and development efforts.

  • Develop standards for all self-perform operations.

  • Develop options and protocols for Skanska yard equipment purchases in relation to SPW operations.

  • Bachelor’s Degree – Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent

  • 10 to 15 years of industry experience in construction operations.
