Alaska Airlines, Inc. Safety Management System (SMS) Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) Specialist II in Seattle, Washington

DUTIES:

Supports SMS and the ASAP programs and makes recommendations to the team with training, facilitating, and promoting the ASAP. Duties include facilitating ASAP program, Event Review Committee (ERC) meetings, report processing, action item tracking, and communication; providing subject matter expertise on program requirements and procedures based on FAA guidelines; leading the ERC to consensus as necessary; and maintaining good working relationships within AAG, the FAA, and with union representatives. Promotes SMS by facilitating the development of tools and techniques that strengthen safety assurance and safety risk management. Performs Safety Risk Management (SRM) assessments of ineffective risk controls, new hazards, process and procedure changes, and other required SRM triggers. Performs continuous analysis of ASAP data to identify trends, safety concerns, and effectiveness of safety risk controls. Serves as the primary focal for tracking, analyzing, and communicating ASAP metrics. Prepares analyses of ASAP reports and advises the ERC of safety trends for use in corrective action recommendations to Senior Leaders within the company. Conducts training for new ERC members.

  

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree* in any field of study, or the foreign degree equivalent; and 2 years of aviation experience, including: 2 years leading meetings with audiences of various levels at the company; 2 years promoting safety reporting and knowledge of Safety Management System (SMS) practices; 2 years performing analysis of Safety data, presenting trends and safety concerns, and raising recommendations to senior management to improve safety in the operation; 2 years conducting training; and 2 years conducting Safety Risk Assessments.

 

Experience may be gained concurrently.

 

*Employer will accept 2 years of aviation or safety experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree in the above fields.

 

SALARY:                                 $97,760-$111,600/year

Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees.
