Capital Group Companies Global Quantitative Engineer (SE1122PK) in Seattle, Washington

[Participates in research, design, engineering, building, testing, and maintaining complex quantitative models. Utilizes advanced knowledge in quantitative methods and tools, data analysis, problem solving, and software engineering. Translates business objectives into quantitative models by actively participating in various aspects of research, prototype, production processes. Participates in developing hypotheses and designing robust experimental approaches to validate them. Performs historical back-testing, risk and portfolio construction analysis, time series and cross-sectional analysis. Incubates and transitions quantitative strategies and models to production. In partnership with quantitative research groups supports research work streams. Provides empirical analysis as requested using historical or simulated data. Implements research models/methodologies and/or replicate academic papers to enrich methodology options. Analyzes, interprets and visualizes data to help users meet complex reporting and analytical business needs for requests from senior business stakeholders or other technology areas. Develops and utilizes understanding of capital markets (equity and fixed income), modern portfolio theory, various market data sources and industry portfolio risk models. Learns new technologies and understanding of business areas. Design and engineer tactical tools/applications/prototypes rapidly. Executes development of rich, interactive tools that deliver insights. Participates in development that connects models to data sources, interactive UI, scheduling and reporting. Researches, evaluates and adopts various market data and analytics sources and tools. Clearly communicates options, outcomes, and recommendations to stakeholders on implementation and design.

Education/Experience: Ph.D in Computer Science or Mathematics, Physics, or closely related quantitative field (or foreign equivalent) plus three (3) years of experience in the job offered or similar occupation. In the alternative, will also accept a Master's Degree in Computer Science or Mathematics, Physics, or closely related quantitative field (or foreign equivalent) plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or similar occupation

Specials Skills: Must possess expertise/knowledge sufficient to adequately perform the duties of the job being offered. Expertise/knowledge may be gained through employment experience or education. Such expertise/knowledge cannot be "quantified" by "time." Required expertise/knowledge includes: Experience in statistics, data science, machine learning, scientific computing and algorithm development. Proficient software design and programming skills in quantitative languages (including: Python, R, Matlab, Java). Expertise in data analysis, data engineering and visualization skills including SQL and tableau. Experienced in effectively articulating complex financial and mathematical concepts including optimization and quantitative models, and statistical analysis. Research knowledge and experience using scientific method. Experienced with cloud technologies including AWS.
