The Program Operations Specialist will manage the Entrepreneurship Center (EC) and the Distinction of Excellence (DoE) programs in the Milgard School of Business, leading and overseeing programming, operations, communications, and budget for both programs, and reporting to each program director. This position is responsible for contributing to program, as well as student success and engagement. The position gathers information from people external and internal to the University on current business issues. This individual communicates frequently with a diverse range of faculty, staff, students, and business community members to make decisions on content, form and timing of programming. The position initiates and manages partnerships with business, public, and nonprofit agencies to support student learning through activities and field experiences. The position also identifies and engages with business leaders to connect them as mentors to approximately 40 students across both programs. This position makes independent decisions regarding program and event planning.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Educational programming (20%)

  • Develop & manage educational activities and programming that advance student success for the Entrepreneurship Center (EC) and the Distinction of Excellence (DoE) Program in the Milgard School of Business.

  • Be the central point of contact for EC and DoE programs, interfacing with students, faculty, staff & the community.

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute events and invite speakers to facilitate student learning and skill development in these programs.

  • Ensure that school, campus, and university policies and procedures are followed in all initiatives.

  • Assist Program Directors in setting program goals and conducting assessments in relation to the success of the programs.Student Advising (20%)

  • Provide expert advice to EC and DoE participants through educational programming.

  • Consult with students and provide educational support to them through individual and group meetings and office hours.Marketing and Communications (15%)

  • Lead the creation and implementation marketing and communications plans for all EC and DoE Program activities.

  • Implement the digital and social media strategies of both programs in partnership with MSB communications staff.

  • Manage program websites, email, and promotional communications for activities and events.Community Connections (15%)

  • Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with other UW units and schools.

  • Participate in relevant community activities and represent the programs at UW and community events.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with community mentors, pair community mentors with students, and support effective and productive interactions between them.Program Recruiting (10%)

  • Recruit students to participate in the EC and DoE through class visits, visual marketing, applications, interviews, and events.

  • Lead the review of applications and selection of students for each program.Fiscal Management (10%)

  • Develop, manage and reconcile program budgets.

  • Manage procurement.

  • Oversee resource planning and allocation to ensure achieving program goals and adherence to policies.Supervise Student Employees (10%)

  • Recruit, interview, select and train up to 2 student workers.

  • Assign and review student employee work and provide feedback.

  • Evaluate performance and take corrective action if needed. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field.

  • 3 years of relevant work experience to include leading program development, administration, budgeting, and community outreach. Navigating legal requirements and strategies for launching new business ventures in a wide variety of fields and industries. Planning and managing student and community events. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Business or related field.
