Within UAA, the Halbert and Nancy Robinson Center for Young Scholars (RC) at the University of Washington is a leader in the nation for developing programs that serve highly capable young pre-college and college students. Through access to early entrance programming, the RC prepares younger students for college, providing them with challenging and accelerated learning opportunities in a vibrant, intellectual community setting. The RC provides outreach through summer and Saturday student enrichment, educator professional learning, and online engagement opportunities.

The Robinson Center has an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic, student-centered, individual with a successful involvement record in enrichment programming for K-12 students to join our team as Enrichment Program Manager.

The Program Manager is primarily responsible for managing the Saturday Enrichment Program and supporting the Summer Enrichment Program. Key tasks include outreach, communication, programming, curriculum development, hiring, onboarding, supervision of instructors and teaching aides, facility planning, enrollment and registration management, procurement, and preparation of course materials. This position manages the Saturday Enrichment program and supports the Summer Enrichment programs, requiring the position to work closely with the UW’s Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator and the Director of Enrichment to ensure that the RC is following guidelines and is in compliance with requirements, as well as meet the needs of students and families. This position is the on-site manager during the Saturday classes and is responsible for recruiting, selecting, hiring, and supervising Saturday instructors and teaching aides. This position supports the summer programs by supporting the director with planning, programming, recruiting, onboarding and orientations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Director of Enrichment, the Program Manager’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Saturday Enrichment Program Management (50%)

  • Assume primary responsibility for managing daily operations of the Saturday Enrichment program.

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, and supervise the program instructors and teaching aides, with a focus on equity and diversity.

  • Work with the UW’s Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator to ensure compliance for program staff.

  • Work with parents to complete parent authorization and release forms as appropriate.

  • Develop Saturday programming classes, timelines, and schedules.

  • Monitor and oversee the tracking of hours submitted for approval by instructors and teaching aides.

  • Assist with curriculum development of enrichment courses.

  • Supervise and evaluate all Saturday program instructors, with regular meetings and classroom visits.

  • Manage enrollment, registration, and facilities planning for enrichment courses.

  • In collaboration with the enrichment director, develop, update, and implement programmatic policies and procedures.

  • In collaboration with the enrichment director, design and lead orientations for Saturday program instructors, parents and students; monitor budget status in line with program activities, goals and/or priorities; and assure program activities are in line with program goals and standards.

  • Work with the enrichment director, students, families and instructors to resolve disputes and discipline issues.

  • Prepare course materials, and outreach documents.

  • Monitor purchase requests and work with the enrichment director and Financial Manager for approval and reconciliation.

  • Assess and develop new systems to improve programming.

  • Assist in the Center’s event and activity planning.

  • Assist the enrichment director with other duties and projects as needed.Summer Programs (25%)

  • Assist the enrichment program coordinator with summer registration.

  • Work with the UW’s Office of the Youth Protection Coordinator to ensure compliance for program staff.

  • Work with parents to complete parent authorization and release forms as appropriate.

  • Work with the enrichment director to ensure program activities are in line with program goals and standards.

  • Assess and develop new systems to improve programming.

  • Assist with interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and training of the teaching aides.

  • Assist the enrichment director with recruiting and hiring of instructors and teaching aides.

  • Assist the enrichment director with other duties as needed.Outreach (20%):

  • Support the enrichment director to develop and implement an annual outreach plan aligned with RC strategic goals and other initiatives.

  • Help build a strong network of on and off-campus collaborative partners to develop outreach strategies and networks with a focus on equity and diversity designed to reach currently underrepresented populations of students and instructors.

  • Represent the RC at relevant K-12 school and community meetings, training, councils, roundtables, and committees to build collaborative, strategic outreach partners and networks.

  • Other duties as needed.Participate in professional development and contribute to the functioning of the RC and Undergraduate Academic Affairs (5%)

  • Actively collaborate within the RC to advance the goals of the Center.

  • Serve on appropriate RC and/or UAA committees where relevant and schedules allow.

  • Collaboration and Teamwork MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, educational administration or related field.

  • At least three years of experience in the K-12 setting, program support, or student services. Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience with recruiting, hiring and supervising staff.

  • Advanced computer skills, including excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Google Suite and database management programs.

  • Demonstrated professional customer service, team collaboration, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure of overlapping deadlines.

  • Ability to work on-site on Saturdays when classes are in session.

  • Proven commitment to promoting equity and diversity in educational settings.

  • Experience in working with diverse populations and fostering an inclusive environment. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree in education, educational administration or related field.

  • Demonstrated management experience in K-12 enrichment programs.

  • Experience with teaching and curriculum development.

  • Experience monitoring purchases.

  • Ability to contributing and implementing outreach initiatives.

  • Expertise working in gifted education with highly capable students and their families.

  • Background in adolescent development, youth protection, or equity and compliance.

  • Interest in providing professional development related to gifted education to serve the community. CONDITITONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • This is a 12-month appointment, with typical working days Tuesday - Saturday during the academic year and Monday - Friday during the summer, with occasional evening hours throughout the year.

  • This position works in an office setting, but due to the nature of the programs, the office is often loud and somewhat chaotic. This employee will need to be able to efficiently work in that type of setting, and should ideally enjoy being around energetic teenagers.

  • A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to employment.

  • Online training related to working with minors and mandatory reporting requirements will also be required for this position.
