AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

AWS Billing is responsible for the largest cloud billing platform, processing quadrillions of usage data into millions of invoices that amount to billions of dollars globally every month. As customers around the world move to the cloud, we need ambitious seasoned product managers who want to help define and build the future of cloud billing so we accelerate cloud adoption as the leader in cloud computing.
The new AWS Billing Core Product team is looking for a Principal Product Manager to be founding members who will play a pivotal role in defining and driving the overall multi-year product vision and strategy for AWS Billing, and own a variety of fundamental billing concepts (e.g. pricing, service-type billing, billing consistency). A successful candidate (1) thrives in ambiguity, (2) relentlessly dives deep to solve known hairy problems, and (3) is a self-starter who can apply first principles thinking to uncover opportunities to simplify complex products for our customers.
Given the breadth of AWS Billing, this role will require coordination across many internal and external teams and will be visible at the highest levels of the company. Key job responsibilities
You have broad understanding of systems and software engineering concepts, and apply this technical knowledge to invent, evolve, improve, and simplify.
You define the strategic vision and the long-term roadmap to achieve it, ensuring you are working backwards from customers and utilizing data analysis to guide you.
You lead internal technical conversations by outlining the technical design, being the owner of trade-offs between technical cost and business value.
You understand and can represent the reasons behind the architecture decisions of product or feature, and consistently bring strong, data-driven business and technical judgement to decisions.
You partner effectively with other leaders involved in the design, development, and delivery of software systems and features.
You influence adjacent teams’ roadmaps, and collaborate with them regarding approach and prioritization.
You create success measurements linked to desired customer outcomes, set goal targets for these measurements, and are responsible for defect identification communication and reporting.
About the team
The new AWS Billing Core Product team aims to accelerate our customers and AWS growth by: (1) spearheading continuous multi-year billing product strategy definition across AWS billing organization, (2) owning innovation of billing-wide concepts (e.g. pricing, service-type billing, billing ease of use and consistency). Basic Qualifications
7+ years of working as a Technical Product Manager experience
5+ years of technical (software development, network development, IT, other related) experience
Experience delivering large-scale SaaS, PaaS or LaaS products where you are responsible for the full product lifecycle, from concept through GTM (go to market)
Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy, definition, and trade-offs for a portfolio of products
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Business or a related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
MBA or Master’s degree
Experience in Strategy & Operations or Consulting

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $163,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $281,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
