Amazon Manager, Software Development, Advertising Trust Tech in Seattle, Washington

Description

Amazon Advertising Trust team is responsible for moderating all kind of ads before it becomes eligible for publishing to the customer. This team moderates millions of ads on monthly basis. As the whole ad industry is influenced by latest advancements in AIGen technology, we expect ads to be more complex and versatile in nature with exponential increase in volumes. The sheer volume multiplied by variety of content makes this problem space an interesting and challenging place to be in. This provides a great opportunity for engineering and science teams to scale up our systems and science adoption to take on next generation advertising complexity and scale without human interventions.

Key job responsibilities

The role of Software Development Manager will be responsible for our core policy technology to meet next 5 years scale and ad complexity. You will own the rules engine for policy evaluation during the moderation process, data storage and APIs to scale for business needs and the policy rule management tool.

As a Software Development Manager, you will...

  • Lead a team of Software Development Engineers (SDEs).

  • Own the critical technologies of this core service, own engineering vision for your team, contribute to product vision.

  • Define the technological roadmap by partnering with peer SDMs and sister teams.

  • Maintain a high bar for operational excellence.

  • Drive a welcoming, hard working, and well balanced team culture.

  • Coach engineers and help them achieve career progression goals.

Basic Qualification

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software life cycle

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  • Experience mentoring junior software engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related technical field

  • Able to work with a diverse team, with demonstrable experience hiring and developing others

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Experience building web applications with React and modern web technologies

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
