As a Fuel Cell Stack Electrochemical Engineer, you will be responsible for the complete life cycle of the fuel cell stack within the integrated fuel cell assembly from concept definition, interfaces, conceptual design, detailed design, component development, assembly, verification, and operation on the moon. As a part of the Lunar Fuel Cell team, you may work on multiple programs at different stages of maturity to support all fuel cell power system needs in the Lunar business unit.You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. You will play a key role in developing the Lunar Transportation system that will return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. Responsibilities: Own design and development of fuel cell stack component within the integrated fuel cell assembly, including MEA design specification, procurement, testing, and manufacturing. Responsible for development of fuel cell components, performing fuel cell operability trades and analysis of test data, developing electrochemical models, and defining verification and validation plans for new technology developments Define requirements and drive design decisions to meet mission objectives and satisfy requirements while balancing cost, schedule, and risk. Work with suppliers or Blue Origin groups to identify and procure components. Manage suppliers to procure, fabricate, and install flight hardware. Collaborate with other vehicle subsystems to ensure thorough and accurate documentation of components and assemblies. Create test plans and run testing and qualification of components. Stay abreast of all external fuel cell and fuel cell process concepts and technology developments. Mentor newer and less knowledgeable employees in the higher technologies of the field Perform root cause investigations associated with any component failures. Effectively communicate development status, risks, and challenges to management. Work in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. Write cogent and succinct technical memos and devise innovative, intuitive, and delightful ways to visualize quantitative information. Qualifications: Subject matter expert in fuel cell stack and component development Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or related technical subject areas 5+ years of relevant experience in fuel cell stack and component research, development and/or testing Detailed understanding of fuel cell technologies and their applications Exposure to component design, material selection, manufacturing, electrochemistry and thermodynamics D
